Like Likes (ライクライク, Like Like) are enemies from the Legend of Zelda series.

Origin

Like Likes made their debut in The Legend of Zelda as a common enemy, and has become a recurring enemy in later Zelda games. They are gelatinous slime creatures with a voracious appetite.

Like Likes are known for oozing towards the player, sucking up the player in their wide mouths, and robbing them of their shields before spitting them out. In most Zelda games, they are required to be quickly defeated in order to retrieve their stolen shield. In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, they even steal the Goron or Zora Tunics if Link happens to wear one at a time.

Like Likes appear as a common enemy in the Underground Maze stage of Adventure Mode. Their design is based on their appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Like Likes attack by swallowing the nearby player's fighter, damaging them and spitting them out after a short time. Like Likes can be defeated by dealing enough damage to them, which will result in an Like-Like KO bonus where the player receives 500 points for each Like Like KO'd.

Like Like

In The Legend of Zelda, these slow-footed monsters inhaled Link and ate his shield, just beating out Wallmasters for the coveted title of "Most Aggravating Enemies Ever." Supposedly, their name comes from an old, almost indecipherable Hyrulian proverb: "Shield-eaters and world leaders have many likes alike."

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

The Like Like is one of the only common enemies from Melee to not appear in Smash Run, but it does appear as a collectible trophy.

Ntsc These tube-shaped monsters have been in almost every Legend of Zelda game since the very beginning, and they've developed quite a taste for Link in that time. They'll even take his shield and clothes! You can get them back nowadays, but when Like Likes first appeared, if you didn't take Link's Magical Shield back quickly, they'd consume it!

They'll even take his shield and clothes! You can get them back, but when Like Likes first appeared, if you didn't take Link's Magical Shield back quickly, it was gone for good!

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Spirit

The Like Like appears as an Advanced-class support spirit.

The Like Like uses a Yoshi puppet fighter and is fought on the Great Bay stage's Battlefield form. During the battle, Yoshi favors grabs and throws and the player's fighter occasionally takes damage, referencing the Like Like's nature to suck up and devour its prey, damage them, and spit them out. Also, the floor is sticky, referencing the Like Like's gelatinous body.
