Smash Factor X was a Super Smash Bros. Melee superregional and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate supermajor held in Mexico City, Mexico, from July 28th-30th, 2023. The tournament market the 10th anniversary of the Smash Factor series and is currently the largest Smash tournament in Mexico. It is also the first Smash Factor tournament to not be held in Puebla.

Tournament summary

Melee

Eddy Mexico beat Mang0 (upset factor 4) and Lucky, then lost to Hungrybox and Hax$ for a 3rd place finish. Hax$ beat Hungrybox in Set 1 of Grand Finals 3-2, then Hungrybox won Set 2 3-0 for his first Smash Factor tournament win.

Ultimate

The first day of singles saw two notable upsets: #62 seed Mar over #3 seed Zomba (upset factor 9) and #142 seed Zaul over #14 seed Cosmos (upset factor 7). Both players ended up meeting in Losers top 64 on the second day, and Zomba ultimately defeated Cosmos 3-0, eliminating Cosmos at 49th.

The second day saw notable performances from Mexican players who seldom travelled outside Mexico or its nearby regions, most notably from #23 seed AlanDiss and #51 seed Meme. After losing to Tea, AlanDiss claimed two top 30 wins by eliminating both Zomba (upset factor 6) and #11 seed MuteAce 3-0, among other players, before losing to kameme to place 9th. Similarly, Meme upset #19 seed Mr.R before falling to Losers after bringing Shuton to game 5, were he then defeated #9 seed Maister (upset factor 5) to enter top 8, Meme's first-ever top 8 at a major/supermajor; he ultimately fell to Glutonny 3-1 to place 7th. In addition, Whisky's 17th-place finish tied Jul's performance at Shine 2019 and Xillion's performance at Low Tide City 2022 as the best performance for a Robin player at a major/supermajor up to that point. On the other hand, this tournament also marked the first time Glutonny has ever defeated Tea, and Tea ultimately lost to Sisqui to place 9th.

Only two players seeded for top 8 were eliminated outside of top 8: Zomba and Tweek, the latter of whom lost to Sisqui and Glutonny for 9th. Winner's side saw Sparg0 win his Crown the Third runback against MkLeo -- the first time Sparg0 defeated Leo's Joker -- as well as his Get On My Level 2023 runback against Sonix to enter Grand Finals. In a repeat from GOML the previous week, both Sonix and Sparg0 met each other in Grand Finals, and although Sonix took the first set 3-0, Sparg0 ultimately defeated Sonix a second time 3-1, taking his first ever Smash Factor title and becoming the first player to win a major/supermajor in all three regions of North America. On the other hand, MkLeo fell to Glutonny 3-1 to place 5th, the first time MkLeo attended a Smash Factor and failed to make Grand Finals since Smash Factor 2013 in the Brawl event.
