Sonix is a smasher from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic who mains Sonic in both Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was originally known as a Wi-Fi Warrior, coming to prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic where he was considered one of the best players in the online metagame. Following the return to offline competitive play, Sonix continued to perform well offline, defeating players such as Glutonny, Tweek, Maister, Dabuz, Riddles, Gackt, Zomba, and Sisqui; his performances solidified him as one of the best Sonic players in the world during the post-pandemic metagame as well as the best player from the Caribbean.
In Ultimate, he is currently ranked 2nd on the Wi-Fi Warrior Rank v7, 0 on the Dominican Republic Power Rankings, 24th on OrionRank Ultimate: Eclipse North America, 34th on OrionRank Ultimate: Eclipse, and 12th on the PGRU v3 NA.
Sonix plays Sonic in a very optimal way, using the character’s speed and movement to make unpredictable and tricky approaches, making it hard for his opponent to punish him. Sonix also likes using Sonic’s normals for pressure and playing neutral. He is also willing to take his opponents to time when he has the stock lead or percentage lead. Sonix’s defensive playstyle is proved to be very effective at top level, enabling him to take sets off several high and top level players, including Maister, MVD, and Dabuz, who play characters that are not on par with Sonic’s mobility.
However, Sonix tends to struggle when he doesn’t have the lead and also becomes impatient to take a stock and reset neutral. This results in him losing games and dropping sets. He also would frequently try to play aggressively when he's down a stock, allowing other players to camp him out too.
