Smash Masters exhibitionsEdit

Rules: All four Smash games are played in a best-of-three format (4 stocks for Smash 64 and Melee, 3 for Brawl and 2 for Smash 4). A big victory is earned by winning a game with a high enough amount of stocks left (3 for Smash 64/Melee and 2 for Brawl/Smash 4).

The winner is determined

  • first by sets won
  • second by games won
  • third by "big victories".

Smash 64 combo contestEdit

Inspired by the NBA Dunk Contest, this unique event allows Smash 64 players to show off their technical skills in front of a large audience.

Players have 2 minutes to perform any 'combo' of their choosing (a combo is a string of hits that ends in a KO, where the opponent does not touch the ground). Nothing is off limits; all characters, maps and items can be used.

Once the combo is finished, a panel of 5 judges give them a score from 1-10. The players with the most points move forward in the bracket, while those with the bottom scores are eliminated. There are just 3 rounds of elimination, and the contest usually runs about 1 hour.

Super Smash Con 2016 was the first to introduce the Combo Contest, and it has quickly become a fan-favorite with the videos garnering over 1 million views on YouTube.

TriviaEdit

  • With Nairo winning both Brawl and Smash 4, this is the first time in the Super Smash Con series that any player has won two separate events at the same tournament.
    • Nairo was also the winner of Super Smash Con 2016 in Wii U singles.
    • In both the Brawl and Smash 4 events, Nairo came into Grand Finals from losers and went up against a Diddy Kong player.
  • This is SuPeRbOoMfAn's lowest placement in Smash 64 singles on North American soil, and the worst overall on a double-elimination setting.
  • Super Smash Con 2017 is currently Dabuz's and NAKAT's lowest placements ever in a Smash for Wii U tournament, at 33rd and 65th place, respectively.
  • Similar to MomoCon 2017, the grand finals in Smash 4 singles was between two previous Super Smash Con champions (ZeRo, who won Super Smash Con 2015 and Nairo, who won Super Smash Con 2016).
  • Both Nairo and Mango retained their titles from Super Smash Con 2016 in Wii U singles and Melee singles respectively.
  • Super Smash Con 2017 marked the last national tournament Mango had won until Get On My Level 2019 almost two years later.
