This is a Japanese-flavored arrangement of Ryu's iconic theme, a recurring musical piece throughout the Street Fighter series, first appearing as the music for his Japan home stage in Street Fighter II. This remix incorporates the "critical" version of the stage theme, originally heard when characters' HP reached a low enough threshold.

The fourth major arcade version of Street Fighter II, 1993's Super Street Fighter II, ran on Capcom's new and improved CPS2 hardware, allowing for all of the game's music to be rearranged in superior quality. This is the CPS2 version of Ryu's theme as heard in that game.

  • Audio files for Ryu Stage Type A were found in datamines of the version 1.0.4 update for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, along with sound files of the victory fanfares for Lucas and the then-unannounced Roy, implying Ryu was planned to be a playable fighter since at least April 2015.
