The Lake Shore level starts off with Kirby running off, leaving Peach or Zelda behind. After he leaves, Bowser comes and turns Zelda/Peach into a trophy. False Bowser appears, turns into Shadow Bugs, dissolves into the trophy, and creates a false princess. Upon that, Mario and Pit or Link and Yoshi (depending on which princess was turned into a trophy earlier), are seen running along the lake. Up on a hill the false princess aims at the duo with a Dark Cannon, but her Dark Cannon is destroyed by Pit or Link, who slices it in half, Pit/Link is then joined by his partner and the duo then prepare to fight the evil clone. A battle starts between either Mario and Pit vs. False Zelda or Link and Yoshi vs. False Peach.

After the battle, Mario or Link sees False Peach/Zelda dissolve and mistakes the clone as the real princess. Upon the confusion, Mario or Link runs up the hill and attacks Link or Mario in revenge for supposedly destroying their respective lovers. The next battle ensues: Mario and Pit vs. Link and Yoshi or the other way around. Upon defeat, the team who was not controlled by the player turn into trophies. King Dedede appears in Wario's Cargo, carrying the trophies of Ness, Luigi and Peach/Zelda; the latter of which is spotted by Mario/Link. King Dedede grabs the team of Mario and Pit or Link and Yoshi. When he sucessfully grabs them, Kirby appears and cuts the arm off the Cargo using Final Cutter and releases Mario and Pit or Link and Yoshi from their trophy forms. Then King Dedede turns around and drives straight into the group. Link or Pit will shoot an arrow at the Cargo and it falls apart, heading straight toward The Cave. The group of Mario, Pit, Link, Yoshi, and Kirby run near the Cargo, which starts the next part of the level. After that part of the level is complete, the group comes upon an entrance to a cave.

In the epilogue of the level, Ganondorf is shown in a control room. He then gives Bowser coordinates on where to find King Dedede's castle via computer screen.

Enemies Introduced

Kirk's Changes

If Zelda is rescued from the stadium, Bowser will use the Dark Cannon and turn her into a Trophy and False Bowser will turn back into Shadow Bugs and dissolves Zelda. Then, Link, Yoshi, and Toon Link will be running through the Shore, and when False Zelda is about to turn the 3 back into Trophies, Pit will shoot at the Dark Cannon and destroy it. Mario and Pit then fight False Zelda and defeat her. After the Battle, Link will see that Mario and Pit has defeated False Zelda, and Link thinks it was the Real Zelda and not the Clone Zelda and tries to slab Mario, but misses. After this Fight, Mario and Pit will be turned back into Trophies, and King Dedede will snatch the two Trophies, but the Magic Arm on the Cargo will be cutted off by Kirby's Final Cutter and Kirby turns the two back to life. That's when the six chase King Dedede. If Peach is rescued, it will do the same as Link, Yoshi, and Toon Link, but do it in Inverse.
