Controversy[edit]
Controversy arose when Chilean smasher Nyx accused Lukitu for dishonesty. Nyx noted that Lukitu lagtested against 5 different opponents, including notable players such as CruxisPhantom and STARLEE, causing them to get disqualified from the set for poor connection. Nyx stated that some of the players disqualified tested their connections together and had little problem, leading him to believe Lukitu was doing it to his advantage, as the distance between Brazil and both Chile and Peru was greater than or around the distance across the continental United States. In response, Cagt stated that Lukitu did not break any rules and did not show any connection issues when doing the lagtest, but also stated that he would be adjusting the rules so that a lagtest can be called only when the match is completely unplayable.[1]
Lukitu would later respond to the accusation by clarifying misconceptions and going through each disqualification one-by-one, each with a screenshot of the conversation on Start.gg. Specifically, Lukitu stated that in two of the DQs, the opponent called for a lagtest and failed it; he only called for a lagtest during CruxisPhantom's set - where CruxisPhantom admitted he had internet problems that day - and Magiciak's set - where both players agreed the connection was bad.[2]
