SWT: South America Ultimate Regional Finals was the first Super Smash Bros. Ultimate final for Phase Two of the Smash World Tour 2021. Due to the severe status of the COVID-19 pandemic in South America, the tournament was held online.[1] The sixteen players who qualified through the SWT: South America Ultimate Online Qualifier were invited to this tournament. The winner qualifed for the Smash World Tour 2021 Championships. This was the only Smash World Tour 2021 regional final without pools, only a double-elimination bracket was played.

A Melee event was also planned, but it was ultimately cancelled due to the aforementioned situation. Instead, Chape and HP were chosen as the South American Melee finalists.

Pre-recorded sets controversy[edit]

As VGBootCamp was streaming the tournament, a Twitter account leaked an image that showed all the tournament sets pre-recorded on Shared Content.[2]. Minutes later, Smasher Belipe accused VGBootCamp for holding the tournament a day prior but broadcasting it the next day, using this image as proof.[3] Following the posts, an image of the completed bracket was also leaked.[4] Additionally, players on the livestream only showed fighter names instead of nametags, which are indicative of replays.

VGBootCamp's owner GimR later responded to the accusations. He admitted that the tournament did take place the day prior, but stated that it was to ensure that having a third person spectate the match would not cause additional lag, a problem that caused controversy during South America's SWT qualifier. He additionally apologized for not handling the re-broadcast that well and stated that the team wanted to keep the spotlight on South America without giving away the results of the matches.[5]
