IMPACT MAJOR 3 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate major held in Machida, Tokyo, Kantō on June 14th, 2026.
Tournament Summary[edit]
In the first Japanese major since Sumabato SP 69 almost a month ago, Miya would claim his first major victory since Flash Flood in February, and his first japanese major victory since Sumabato SP 63, in October 2025. Along with his long loser's run and his win on Sparg0 at Sumabato SP 69, this performance marked a return to form after his shaky start of the season. Miya delivered a dominant showing, only dropping 3 games, one to #32 seed Chee's Snake, and two to #4 seed KEN's Sephiroth.
A slew of upsets caused half of the top 8 seeds to be eliminated before top 8. After his great streak of good performances, #8 seed Harupoyo would fall at 17th, opting to play Wii Fit Trainer instead of Steve against #9 seed Uame, losing the set in a 3-0, before losing to #50 seed Misamisa (UF 6) in a another 3-0. Similarly, after his meteoric rise with several wins over Japan's best players like Raru and Miya, #7 seed Saya got upset by #58 seed Ganohara (UF 6), and, after a short loser's run where he eliminated fellow ICs main and #21 seed Sin, lost to Shuton in his own loser's run. #5 seed TamaPDaifuku would fall at 25th, losing to rising star and #37 seed Shinda Lion (UF 6) and Misamisa (UF 7) both in 3-0's. Lastly, #2 seed Yaura, now a candidate for top 10 in the world after his win at Ikesuma 4 and his top 8 placement at Kagaribi 15, also finished at 17th, losing to #18 seed M0tsunabE 0-3 and #24 seed Sumaho 2-3 (both UF 7). Furthermore, both #3 seed Shuton and #6 seed Tea got upset lost to #19 seed Gorioka (UF 6 and UF 4 respectively), but made top 8 nevertheless.
Misamisa would go one to place 9th with solo Ice Climbers, maintaining the character in the spotlight despite Saya's underperformance. He firstly upset #15 seed Reno (UF 4), before losing in a 3-0 to M0tsunabE's Dark Pit. In loser's, he beat #29 seed Kebanga before making two of the biggest upsets, 3-0 'ing both TamaP and Harupoyo. He bowed out at 9th, losing to Tea in a tense game 5 set. Shinda Lion's performance continued the debate of Ganondorf's place as the worst character in the game, as he placed 9th and making the character's best placement in all of Ultimate lifespan. After a game 5 set with #92 seed SUZUNE, he upset #28 seed Nako, TamaP and lastly #12 seed Mild na H.O (UF 4) to make into winner's quarters, where he lost back-to-back sets to KEN 0-3 and #27 seed Chon's Aegis 1-3. Thanks to their great upsets, both M0tsunabE and Gorioka made top 8 winner side, alongside Miya and KEN. Shuton made top 8 loser's side beating Uame, facing of against Chon, while Tea faced #10 seed Akakikusu, being upset in winner's quarters by M0tsunabE and beating #13 seed Tameigo.
In top 8, Tea and Chon were eliminated at 7th place in 3-1's. In winner side, Miya dismantled both KEN and M0tsunabE (who send Gorioka to the loser's bracket in a close game 5 set) 3-0 to make grand Finals winner's side. Gorioka won his runback against Shuton in a 3-0 this time, eliminated the Olimar main at 5th alongside Akakikusu, losing 3-1 to KEN's Sonic, who then eliminated Gorioka (using both his Joker and his Corrin) and M0tsunabE in two game 5 set to rematch Miya, managing to take two games with his Sephiroth before bowing out at second place.
