Map of Switzerland (red)

Switzerland is a European Smash region that encompasses the country of the same name. It borders France to the west, Austria and Liechtenstein to the east, Germany to the North and Italy to the South. Switzerland has four national languages, with French being primarily spoken in the western cantons, German being primarily spoken in the cantons located in the central, northern, and eastern parts of the country, Italian being spoken in the South, and Romansch, the least populous national language, being spoken in the East. To some degree, the scenes can be divided into these regions, although cross-play is relatively frequent. Tournaments have also been hosted in all regions of the country; however, the largest events tend to be hosted in the German and French-speaking portions.

The scene had its first official tournament in 2007, with it's first significant regionals during the second half of the year, including Road to Bodio 2 and Xmas Festival Zurich. Xmas Festival was born out of the membership of the Smash City website, with the tournaments being organized by X-Blaze and AE.. At this time, the majority of Swiss Smashers were from the French-speaking portions of the country, with many of the early events being held in cities like Geneva and Buttes. Some of these early events would include 32-person regionals like PEPE's GARDEN and Geneva Brawl Garden. The Geneva Brawl Garden series was organized by Kudemo and Zudenka, and the second iteration would not only increase in size but see French talent like Bjay, Leon, and Yass in attendance.

The scene would build up a strong relationship with the regional Nintendo office after the release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. The SwissNintendoLeague would assist in hosting many of the largest events, leading to a significant growth in the scene, with new talent developing like Destany and Kepler. The scene would continue to grow with the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with the invitational e-Caribana, being the first tournament hosted in Switzerland to be considered an A-tier by a global ranking. In addition, the scene would have its first players become globally ranked, Jah Ridin' and Jaka for Melee and Ultimate respectively.
