Alberta is a Smash region that encompasses the Canadian province of the same name. It borders British Columbia to the west, Saskatchewan to the east, Northwest Territories to the North and the United States Rocky Mountains region to the South. Alberta is sometimes grouped in with either the Pacific Northwest region or with Manitoba and Saskatchewan as a larger region. Nonetheless, the region is relatively isolated, as cross-play with other regions is somewhat limited. The majority of tournaments take place in either the Calgary region, Central Alberta (Lacombe), or the Edmonton region. However, smaller scenes also exist in Northern Alberta around Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie.

The scene began in the middle of the 2000's, being centered around Calgary, Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Lethbridge, and Red Deer. Perhaps, the earliest players to see success from the region were MikeMonkey, Mittens, and The King. MikeMonkey would notably place 13th at the 2004 Melee supermajor Tournament Go 6. The region would continue to see success in Melee well into the 2020's as Soonsay would become a mainstay in the top 30, peaking at 9th on the SSBMRank Summer 2024.

The region has seen talent develop in other games as well, such as SuPeRbOoMfAn for Super Smash Bros., Alphicans for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Exodia for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. SuPeRbOoMfAn is not only the region's most famous player, but also regarded as one of the most accomplished players in 64 history.
