Okinawa is a Smash region and prefecture comprised of the Okinawa, Daitō, and Sakishima island chains. On an administrative level, this prefecture is considered part of the Kyūshū region. However, due to the distance between the two regions, players from Okinawa infrequently play in Kyūshū, and as such such Okinawa is considered a separate region in Smash.
Despite its size, it remains one of the more active regions in Japan and hosts the long-running series Churabura. The majority of Okinawa's tournaments are organized by their best player J-Snake. American military personnel also frequently attend tournaments in Okinawa.
