Guatemala

Guatemala is a Smash region that encompasses the country of the same name. It borders El Salvador and Honduras to the east, the South Mexico state Chiapas to the west, and the Yucatán Peninsula states Campeche and Tabasco to the north. Tournament activity is largely centered around Guatemala's capital city, Guatemala City.

Guatemala is considered one of the strongest Smash regions in Central America; however, the region's rise was relatively recent and mainly took place during the post-pandemic metagame, when their best player ShinyMark began traveling more outside his region. Thanks to his many strong performances, ShinyMark was able to establish himself as one of the greatest Ultimate Pikachu players of all time, as well as the best Ultimate player to come from Central America. Conversely, Guatemala's tournament scene rarely sees any attendees from other scenes, and as such they struggled to gain any recognition on the rankings until ShinyMark's debut on the international scene, which finally gave enough points for several Guatemalan events, especially those in the Ultimate Fight Fiesta series, to rank as a C-tier on the rankings. As such, Guatemala's representation has improved significantly in the post-pandemic metagame.
