Bellossom (キレイハナ, Kireihana in Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee
As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Bellossom appears as a Pokémon that comes out of a Poké Ball and a trophy in Melee. Bellossom will use Sleep Powder as its attack. Bellossom will start dancing when it comes out of the Poké Ball. It will be shrouded with Sleep Powder. Any character that makes contact with the powder will fall asleep. The character who is asleep cannot move until he/she is attacked or when Bellosom disappears, making this pokemon ideal for charecters who posess attacks with large Knockback. Unlike other Pokémon, Bellossom remains on the stage for a long period of time. Bellossom's sleep powder does not harm the summoner.
As a trophy
Bellossom features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:
- Bellossom
- From time to time, these beautiful flower Pokémon will gather in numbers and perform an odd sort of dance to call out the sun. While in the midst of this strange exhibition, their petals brush together to create a peaceful and soothing melody. A Gloom will only evolve into a Bellossom if it's exposed to a Sun Stone. Bellossom Trophy
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl
As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Bellossom returns, this time using Sweet Scent, as designated on the Dojo. Despite the different attack, Bellossom has the same effect of putting characters to sleep as it did in Melee. Strangely, Bellossom's Sweet Scent doesn't last as long as its Sleep Powder from SSBM. It causes minor damage if charaters are put to sleep the moment it is summoned.
As a trophy
- Bellossom
- A Flower Pokémon. After spells of cloudy weather, Bellossom will gather to call out the sun by performing a dance. When exposed long enough to the sun, the leaves on its body will spin around. A Bellossom's Speed is also known to increase with sun exposure. Its main specialty is Grass-type attacks. Also, Bellossom will close its flowers when sleeping.
Note
In the actual Pokemon series, Sweet Scent is a move that reduces opponent's evasiveness and does not put the opponent into sleep. The attack may have been based off of Sleep Powder or Grass Whistle, a similar attack to what Bellosom does in Brawl.
