Zelda's appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Zelda (ゼルダ Zeruda) is an promient and the titular character of The Legend of Zelda series by Nintendo. She first appeared in the Super Smash Bros. series in the GameCube installment, Super Smash Bros. Melee. She is a confirmed returning veteran for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. She is often seen as Link's damsel-in-distress and love interest.

For the fighter, see Zelda (SSBM) and Zelda (SSBB).

Character Description

Zelda's first appearance was in the original Legend of Zelda game, where she served as the damsel-in-distress for Link to rescue from the evil monster known as Ganon. She has appeared in every installment of the Zelda series (with the exception of Link's Awakening where she is only mentioned briefly.)

Since then, she has usually filled the role as the princess that must be rescue at some point in each game, but unlike Nintendo's other promient damsel-in-distress Peach, Zelda more frequently takes a more active role in Link's final battles with Ganon. (Such as in The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, where she attacks Ganondorf with Light Arrows) And has been shown to have very powerful magic abilities.

Like Link, Zelda's age can throughout the different games. In some games, she is young girl and in some games she is a teenager.

She never been a playable character in any Zelda game, aside from a few CD-i games which many Zelda fans refuse to acknowledge exist. As such, her appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee marks the first time Zelda has ever been a playable character (the CD-i games notwithstanding).

Each game has a different generation of Link and Zelda, explaining their differences in each game.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

As a playable character

Main article: Zelda (SSBM)

Zelda makes her first appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series as a starting playable character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Zelda is a slow, but powerful character who relies on magic. She is also a bit unique due to her ability to turn into another character entirely, Sheik. Her B move is Nayru's Love which causes a brief blue diamond shield to protect Zelda. Her B Forward is Din's Fire which sends a small, but powerful fireball at her opponents. Her B Up is Farore's Wind which will teleport Zelda up in the air. Her B Down is Transform which turns Zelda into Sheik.

In Single-player

In the game's single-player Adventure mode, Zelda is fought after completing the Underground Maze on the Great Temple stage.

Zelda is featured in the following Event Matches:

Trophies

Zelda is a playable character, so she is featured on three trophies that can be acquired by beating each Regular Match with her on any difficulty. Her first trophy is earned by defeating the Classic mode as her on any difficulty, her second from the Adventure mode, and her third from the All-Star mode.

Zelda
"The crown princess of Hyrule. Zelda entrusted Link with the future of Hyrule after a revelation came to her in the world of dreams. She knows much about the Triforce; in fact, the only person who likely knows more about Triforce lore is Ganondorf himself, whom Zelda evaded in Ocarina of Time by transforming into her alter ego, Sheik. (The Legend of Zelda, 07/87)
Zelda (Smash Red)
Zelda is a bit slow and, because of her light frame, easy to send flying. On the other hand, her magical skills lend her reliable and explosive attack power. Zelda's easier to use if you focus on waiting and countering rather than pressing attacks. She can use Nayru's Love to reflect projectile attacks or as an offensive weapon. (B: Nayru's Love, Smash B: Din's Fire)
Zelda (Smash Blue)
Zelda's midair Lightning Kick centers immense magical power in the ball of her foot. If she strikes perfectly, the attack is as strong as can be. If her aim is slightly off, it'll be exceedingly weak. Farore's Wind again utilizes Zelda's magical prowess, this time by transporting her great distances. It's vital to know the lay of the land before using this move. (Up & B: Farore's Wind, Down & B: Transform)

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Main article: Zelda (SSBB)

Zelda has been confirmed to return in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a starting playable character. Just like in Melee, she has the ability to transform into Sheik. Her Final Smash is called "Light Arrow."
