Plup is a smasher from Florida considered to be one of the best Melee players in the world. He is the best Sheik player in the world, a top Fox player, one of the best Samus players in the world, and one of the best Luigi players in the world. He has strong placings in nationals, including 1st at GENESIS 5 and DreamHack Atlanta 2017, 2nd at The Big House 7 and Smash Summit 9, 3rd at EVO 2016, 4th at CEO 2016, and 5th at EVO 2017, Smash Summit 2, and Smash Summit 3. He is also the second player in competitive Melee history to take a set off of each of the Five Gods, after defeating Armada at The Big House 7. He is a strong doubles player, frequently teaming with Hungrybox, and more recently teaming with Mew2King, taking 1st at GENESIS 5 doubles. He is currently ranked 8th on the 2019 MPGR and was formerly ranked 2nd on the Central Florida Melee Power Rankings.

He is a strong doubles player, frequently teaming with Hungrybox, with the pair (collectively referred to as "Plupbox") currently considered the best doubles team in the world. He is currently ranked 5th on the SSBMRank 2023.

After Apex 2015, Plup switched from Samus to Sheik while still using Samus as an occasional counterpick. Plup has also demonstrated his competence with other characters, such as Luigi which he used exclusively at CEO Dreamland, defeating Nintendude and Druggedfox, and placing 5th, the highest placing a solo Luigi has received at a major. He placed 3rd at CFL Smackdown 72 by playing exclusively Young Link. He also won CFL Smackdown 132 going exclusively Falco. In 2016, Plup showed early success with Fox, winning Frame One and defeating Wizzrobe, Axe, and Colbol in the process.

2010-2013: Beginnings as a Bounty Hunter
Initially starting as a Samus player, Plup's first notable tournament was at CEO 2010, placing 13th out of 62 entrants. Starting with Advent II, Plup teamed with Hungrybox in doubles, placing 1st at many doubles events and would be his main doubles partner until 2015. Later in 2012, he attended Apex 2012 and placed 33rd with a win over Cyrain. A year later, his next tournament was Apex 2013 where he defeated Tai, and lost to KirbyKaze and PewPewU. He placed 17th at the event, a notable improvement over last year.

He placed 17th at the event, a notable improvement over last year. After a few years of sparse results outside of locals, Plup started to make a name for himself by attending more major tournaments as well as improving his results.

2014-2015: Increasing Results and Switch to the Sheikah Clan
At Apex 2014, he placed 13th with wins over Chillindude and darkatma and losses to MacD and Fiction. Later on, at CEO 2014 Prologue, this was one of the first few tournaments where he started to use Fox, mainly as a counterpick for the Jigglypuff matchup. Despite this decision, he lost to Hungrybox in winners and grand finals. CEO 2014 was notable as his first top 8 at a major tournament. After being sent to losers bracket by Porkchops, he defeated ChuDat and Fiction until being eliminated by Mew2King, placing 5th. The latter half of the year would have Plup improve in results, but was just shy of making another top 8 at a notable event. At EVO 2014, he would lose to Armada, albeit with notable wins in losers bracket over Lucky and Hax$ before losing to Axe at 9th place. The Big House 4 would also be a 9th place finish for Plup and was his last tournament of 2014. However, with more notable placements and wins under his belt, he was ranked 16th on the 2014 SSBMRank.

After a few years of sparse results outside of locals, Plup started to make a name for himself by attending more major tournaments as well as improving his results. At Apex 2014, he placed 13th with wins over Chillindude and darkatma in both 2-0 sets and losses to MacD 2-0 and Fiction 2-1. Plup then competed at MLG Anaheim 2014 as one of the four Open Losers' Bracket finalists. Starting in losers bracket he went 2-1, winning against ZeRo 3-0 and Colbol 3-1 but eliminated by Hungrybox.
At Apex 2015, he used a combination of Samus and now Sheik, being the first notable tournament where he used the latter character. However, Plup placed 49th at the tournament, being his worst placement in Melee singles to date. After Apex 2015, Plup started to use Fox and Sheik more frequently, with Samus no longer being his most notable character. The rest of the year would be better in terms of results and Plup has never placed outside of top 48 since Apex 2015. His notability with Sheik was first seen at Smash 'N' Splash. He placed 2nd with solo Sheik, taking out Hanky Panky, Junebug, and Dart! in the process. He only lost to Mew2King in both winners and grand finals. He then placed 7th at CEO 2015 and his Sheik took more sets off of top level players, defeating ChuDat, Westballz, and Zhu before losing to both Leffen and Mango in very close sets. Plup would end up having a runback on both players at EVO 2015 and ultimately won over both players, with his losers set with Leffen in particular becoming one of Plup's most famous sets. He also took additional sets over Wizzrobe and Ken at this event before losing 2-0 to both PPMD and Hungrybox and placed 4th in the tournament. Plup was invited to the first Smash Summit and would remain one of the invites for almost every future Smash Summit. In winners, he beat Shroomed before Mew2King sent him to losers. His losers run was notable however, defeating S2J, Lucky, and PPMD, defeating another one of the Five Gods and placed 4th after losing a set to Mango. At DreamHack Winter 2015, he placed 3rd with wins over MacD, Mango, Duck, and Westballz, with Plup 3-0ing the former in the Samus ditto. He only lost to Armada in both winners quarter-finals and losers finals. By the end of the year, Plup was ranked 7th on the 2015 SSBMRank, with this being his first top 10 placement on the rankings, only being ranked below the Five Gods and Leffen.

Nearly two months later at CEO 2014 Prologue, he mainly played Samus but started to use Fox, mainly for the Jigglypuff matchup. Despite his new counterpick, he lost to Hungrybox twice in winners and grand finals, 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. CEO 2014 was notable as his first top 8 at a major tournament. After being sent to losers bracket by Porkchops, he defeated ChuDat and Fiction until being eliminated by Mew2King, placing 5th.
2016-2018: The Rise of the Jorts
At EVO 2014, Armada beat him 2-0 (being two stocked in both games); however, he had notable wins in losers bracket over Lucky and Hax$. Then he lost 2-0 to Axe and ended with 9th place, just shy of making another top 8. His run at The Big House 4 was similar to the one he had at EVO 2014. After making it out of round 2 pools, Hax$ sent him to losers bracket in a dominant 2-0. In losers, he defeated Hanky Panky and La Luna 2-0 until losing to Westballz 3-1, ending his tournament run at 9th.
At Battle of the Five Gods, he defeated PPMD and Mew2King, with his losses being against Armada and Mango, ending in 5th place. He placed 1st at CEO 2016 Prologue, defeating Colbol in both winners and grand finals, then placed 4th at CEO 2016, 3rd at EVO 2016, and 7th at Shine 2016, 17th at The Big House 6, and 5th at Smash Summit 3, which would be his would be his last tournament of the year outside of locals. With more consistent placements compared to 2015, he placed one spot higher of 6th on the 2016 SSBMRank.

The Big House 4 was Plup's last tournament of 2014 and with more notable placements and wins under his belt, he was ranked 16th on the 2014 SSBMRank.
Plup garnered strong results in 2017, starting the year by winning Norcal Validated. Plup would go on to place 5th at GENESIS 4, Smash Summit Spring 2017, and CEO Dreamland, with the latter tournament being notable for his use of solo Luigi. He eventually placed 2nd at CEO 2017, losing to Hungrybox. While Plup has won tournaments at this point, DreamHack Atlanta 2017 was his first truly notable win in Melee singles, as this was the first tournament won by a non-God with multiple Gods in attendance since Leffen's win at BEAST 5. Shortly after, Plup placed 5th at Super Smash Con 2017 and Shine 2017. Notably at The Big House 7, he defeated Armada, the only God up to this point he never beat in bracket, becoming the second player to win a set against all of Melees Five Gods, after Leffen. It was also the first time Armada lost to a Sheik player since 2010 where Amsah defeated him at Pound 4. For the event itself, he placed 2nd behind Hungrybox. He would later go on to place 5th at Smash Summit 5. With his tournament and player wins, as well as his notable top 8 placements in account, he was ranked 5th on the 2017 SSBMRank, only being ranked below the active Melee Gods.

By the beginning of 2015, Plup started to use Sheik and Fox more frequently, with Samus no longer being his most notable character. Despite this, Plup is still considered one of the best Samus players in the world and occasionally plays the character in bracket, most notably at Shine 2017 and Super Smash Con 2019.
For Plup's career, 2018 is considered his best year in Melee singles. GENESIS 5 is considered his strongest tournament run in Melee singles, as he went on to take win sets against HugS, Mango, Armada, and Hungrybox to became the champion of GENESIS 5. He then went on a dominant streak of placing 2nd at both Get On My Level 2018 and CEO 2018, and won another event in DreamHack Austin 2018. With his wins at GENESIS 5 and Austin 2018, as well as placing top 8 in every tournament he attended in throughout early 2018, Plup jumped to 2nd on the Summer 2018 MPGR, his best placement on the rankings and the first time he outplaced Armada, Mew2King, and Mango. In the second half of 2018, Plup took two consecutive top placements at notable tournaments, with him placing 3rd at EVO 2018 and 4th at Shine 2018 respectively. He would go on to place 2nd after losing to Hungrybox at The Big House 8. This streak throughout the year would end at Smash Summit 7 where he was knocked out at 9th place. This was also only time he didn't appear in top 8 at a notable tournament in 2018. Despite the weaker result at Smash Summit 7, 2018 was undoubtedly a very strong year in terms of placements and wins over MPGR players. On the 2018 MPGR, he was ranked 4th and is currently his best placement with the whole year in account.

While Plup is now known as the best Sheik player in the world, his switch to the character didn't start smoothly. His first tournament with Sheik was Apex 2015, losing to Swedish Delight and KJH, both in the Sheik ditto. He placed 49th at the event which is his worst placement in Melee singles to date.
2019-present: Soft Decline and the Era of the Spoonfed Fish
The rest of the year would be better in terms of results and Plup has never placed outside of top 48 since Apex 2015. His notability with Sheik started to be seen at Smash 'N' Splash. He placed 2nd with solo Sheik, taking out Hanky Panky 2-1, Junebug 2-0, and Dart! 3-1 in the process. He only lost to Mew2King in both winners and grand finals. Next was a 7th place finish at CEO 2015 and his Sheik took more sets off of top level players, defeating ChuDat, Westballz, and Zhu. He lost to both Leffen and Mango in very close 2-1 and 3-2 sets.
Going into 2019, Plup took 3rd place at GENESIS 6 and Pound 2019. In the next two months, he had two fifth place finishes at both Smash 'N' Splash 5 and CEO 2019. Due to not starting off as strong as the previous year, having slightly less notable wins, and stiff competition, his ranking dropped to 7th on the Summer 2019 MPGR. Unfortunately, the second half of the year became a slump in Plup's career. At Super Smash Con 2019, he fell to both Swedish Delight and Axe to place 17th at the event. Shine 2019 was the next tournament he attended, he progressed in winners side of pools and defeated HugS 3-0, but unfortunately DQ'd in 17th place due to sickness. His next tournament was The Big House 9 almost two months later and would place 9th after losing to SFAT and Fiction. He ended the year with a 7th place finish at Mango's Birthday Bash, losing to both Swedish Delight and Hungrybox in 3-1 sets. Despite his shaky performance by the end of the year, his top 3 finishes at majors and top 8 placements throughout the year were strong enough for him to be ranked 8th on the 2019 MPGR, albeit this was his lowest ranking since 2015. Starting in 2020, Plup attended GENESIS 7, playing primarily Fox. However, he lost in notable upsets from both PewPewU and ARMY. These losses put him in a lackluster result of 25th, being his worst placement in singles since The Big House 6. His next tournament was Smash Summit 9. He went on to dominate the winners bracket before being sent to losers by Hungrybox, eliminating Mango in losers, and faced Hungrybox once again in grand finals and placed 2nd despite resetting the bracket. In contrast to GENESIS 7, this is currently his best Summit placement, his best performance at Smash Summit since its inception at the time. In late 2021, when offline Melee tournaments were available again, Plup largely continued to maintain consistent tournament placings. He finished first in the SWT: NA West Melee Regional Finals before going on to win the Smash World Tour 2021 Championships, and would eventually place second at Riptide 2022, Lost Tech City 2022, and MAJOR UPSET, and win both CEO 2022 and CEO 2023.

Plup met Leffen in bracket again at EVO 2015 in losers round 6, it became one of Plup's most famous sets. Plup went Samus in the entire set and in game 3, he took two stocks in under thirty seconds. While Leffen was still able to bring him to his last stock, Plup's strong lead was enough to take the set. He also rematched Mango in bracket and defeated him 2-1, as well as taking additional sets off of Wizzrobe and Ken. He lost 2-0 to both PPMD and Hungrybox and placed 4th, a notably better placement than EVO 2014.

At The Big House 5, he defeated Fork to make it out of pools. Shortly after, he lost to Lucky despite a strong three stock win in game 1. His tournament run didn't last much longer, going 1-1 in the Sheik ditto in losers bracket, defeating Druggedfox and being eliminated by Shroomed, placing 13th at the event.

Plup was invited to the first Smash Summit and would remain one of the invites for every proceeding Smash Summit. In winners he beat Shroomed 3-2 before Mew2King sent him to losers in a 3-1 set. His losers run was notable however, defeating S2J and Lucky 3-0, and PPMD in a close 3-2 set, defeating one of the Five Gods outside of Mango. Funnily enough, Mango eliminated him 3-1 after his win over PPMD and Plup placed 4th.

At DreamHack Winter 2015, he placed 3rd with a 3-1 win over MacD, 3-2 win over Mango, and 3-0ing Duck and Westballz, with Plup 3-0ing the former in the Samus ditto. He only lost to Armada 3-0 in both winners quarter-finals and losers finals.

Despite the bad placing at Apex, this year was notably stronger for Plup than 2014, shown on his placement on the 2015 SSBMRank, being ranked 7th and his first top 10 placement on the rankings, only being ranked below the Five Gods and Leffen.

2016-2017: Greater Status as a Top 10 player
At Battle of the Five Gods, he went 2-2 against the Five Gods (He didn't meet Hungrybox in bracket). He defeated PPMD and Mew2King, with of his losses being against Armada and Mango, ending in 5th place. Outside of his encounters with the Gods, he took sets off of Silent Wolf and MacD.

He placed 1st at CEO 2016 Prologue, defeating Colbol in both winners and grand finals, then placed 4th at CEO 2016, with 3-0s over S2J and Druggedfox, as well as Axe 3-2. His losses were against Mew2King 3-2 and SFAT 3-1. Nearly a month later, he placed 3rd at EVO 2016 with strong wins in winners side over JAVI, Mango, and Hungrybox. Although after this, he quickly fell to a 3-0 against Armada and failed to beat Hungrybox in their runback, losing 3-1.

At Shine 2016, he defeated Captain Faceroll, La Luna, and Lucky with losses to SFAT and Mango. This put him at 7th place in singles, but this tournament is notable for his performance in doubles with Mew2King, his first time teaming up with him and they won the event. They teamed up at future events and consistently place top 3, becoming one of the best Melee doubles team and garnered the name Plup2King.

The Big House 6 would be his lowest placement at top level for awhile. Though he lost to Zain 2-0 in round 2 pools, he made a strong losers run, defeating iBDW, Professor Pro, S2J, and Wobbles. His losers run was stopped by Shroomed who was able to take game 5 and stopped a reverse 3-0 from Plup, placing 17th.

After defeating Axe 3-1 at Smash Summit 3, Armada completely demolished him in their set, having a three stock lead in game 1, and four stocking him in the last two games. After beating PewPewU 3-0 and Duck 3-1, he lost to Mango 3-1 and placed 5th.

Smash Summit 3 was his last tournament outside of locals. With more consistent placements compared to 2015, he placed one spot higher of 6th on the 2016 SSBMRank.

Plup garnered more strong results in 2017, starting the year by winning Norcal Validated. In the process, he took sets off of NMW 2-0, Nintendude 3-0, PewPewU 3-1, and 3-0ing SFAT in their grand finals reset. At GENESIS 4, he garnered wins over Zeo, Rudolph, dizzkidboogie, ARMY, and finally Leffen. He was sent to losers by Mew2King and lost to Hungrybox as soon as entering losers bracket, placing 5th.

At Smash Summit Spring 2017, Plup was placed in Group C and defeated SFAT 3-1 and Mango 3-0 to advance to winners bracket. After losing to Leffen 3-1, he 3-0'd S2J, won 3-1 against ChuDat, and was up two games in the Sheik ditto against Mew2King, but after Mew2King switched to Fox game 3 and Marth games 4 and 5, he reverse 3-0'd Plup and eliminated him in 5th place.

CEO Dreamland is a notable tournament for his strong performance with Luigi. He took notable sets off of Ginger, Nintendude, and Druggedfox with the character and lost to both Mew2King and Swedish Delight, ending in a placement of 5th. His 5th place finish with solo Luigi is currently the highest placement for the character at a Melee major.

With constant finishes of fifth place at majors, the streak was broken at CEO 2017. His run in winners side had notable 3-0 wins over iBDW and S2J, and having a close 3-2 win against Wizzrobe. Three two stocks from Hungrybox would put Plup in losers finals, luckily he defeated Axe 3-1 to have a second chance to win the tournament. The first three games were rather close until Plup three stocked him in the last two games. Although he was able to reset the bracket, Hungrybox took all three games heavily in his favor and lost the reset.

While Plup has won tournaments at this point, DreamHack Atlanta 2017 was his first truly notable win in Melee singles. He defeated Ryan Ford 3-0, Axe 3-2, Mew2King 3-1 in the Sheik ditto, and defeated Hungrybox who was on the brink of reverse 3-0ing him. In grand finals, Hungrybox 3-0'd Plup at first, but then Plup won the reset 3-0. This was the first tournament won by a non-God with multiple Gods in attendance since Leffen's win at BEAST 5. Shortly after, Plup garnered another win over Hungrybox at Super Smash Con 2017, defeating him 3-1. He also took another set over Leffen 3-2. He lost to Mango 3-2 and Mew2King 3-0, placing 5th at the event.

Plup went all Samus at Shine 2017 and just like EVO 2015, faced Leffen in bracket with the bounty hunter. It was a very back and forth set, but Plup took the set 3-2. He took additional sets over Trif 3-0 and La Luna 3-2 with the character. He placed 5th after losing to both Mango 3-0 and S2J 3-2.

For The Big House 7, he defeated MacD and PewPewU 3-0, Mew2King 3-1, and then he went against Armada in winners round 4. Plup took the first two games against Armada's Peach, causing him to switch to Fox. While the character switch looked strong with Armada two stocking Plup in game 3, Plup took game 4 and finally defeated Armada in tournament, the only God up to this point he never beat in bracket. It was the first time Armada lost to a Sheik player since 2010 where Amsah defeated him at Pound 4. After his win over Armada, he won 3-1 over the second best European player, Leffen, making it to grand finals. He sat in winners side and was to play against Hungrybox. Despite his favorable position, Hungrybox took both sets 3-1, putting Plup as the runner-up. Regardless, his win over Armada made him the second player to win a set against all of Melees Five Gods, with the first being Leffen.

At Smash Summit 5, Plup played against Armada in round robin pools and the set was back and forth, every game after game 1 was a two stock win, but Armada took the set 3-2. Despite not being able to defeat Armada for a second time, he took sets off of MikeHaze 3-0 and Shroomed 3-2 and qualified for winner side in the final bracket. He was sent to losers bracket by Leffen 3-1, with him defeating MikeHaze 3-0 in their runback, Wizzrobe 3-2, and then being eliminated in 5th place by Mango 3-1.

With his tournament and player wins, as well as his notable top 8 placements in account, he was ranked 5th on the 2017 SSBMRank, only being ranked below the active Melee Gods.

2018: The Year of the Jorts
For Plup's career, 2018 is considered his best year in Melee singles.

GENESIS 5 was his first tournament of the year, and his strongest tournament run in Melee singles. He took quick sets off of PsychoMidget and Kaeon to make it out of round 2 pools. In winners side of top 64, he defeated Ginger 3-1, HugS 3-0, and Mango 3-2. Then in his set with Armada, Plup won the first two games efficiently, defeating Armada's Fox and caused him to switch to Peach. Despite the character change, the set still remained in Plup's favor and, in a favorable trade, took out Armada's last stock. In winners finals, Plup went against Hungrybox and defeated him 3-1, but he would face him again in grand finals. At first, Hungrybox was taking both sets in a dominant fashion, with a swift 3-0 in the first set and taking the first game of the second set, but Plup would eventually find some footing in their game 5. Afterwards, Hungrybox won game 6 then Plup took the last two games of their set and became the champion of GENESIS 5.

At Get On My Level 2018, Plup became runner-up to Hungrybox for the first of many times in 2018. He defeated Lucky 3-2, and Mew2King and Hungrybox 3-1 to make it to grand finals. In his runback with Hungrybox, he failed to win either set, losing both 3-2 and 3-1.

He attended DreamHack Austin 2018 and became the champion of another DreamHack event, albeit his run wasn't as strong as Atlanta 2017. Regardless, he defeated Arc and Albert 3-0, MikeHaze 3-2, and double eliminated La Luna 3-0 and 3-1.

CEO 2018 became his next notable tournament, taking sets off of SFAT 3-0, Zain 3-2, but being sent to losers by Hungrybox 3-1. He defeated Mew2King 3-1 in losers finals and possibly due to losing with Fox against Hungrybox in winners finals, Plup decided to go Sheik against him in grand finals. It worked in the beginning, resetting the bracket 3-2, but Hungrybox adapted and 3-0'd him in the reset.

In conjunction with his wins at GENESIS 5 and Austin 2018, as well as placing top 8 in every tournament he attended in the first half of 2018, Plup jumped to 2nd on the Summer 2018 MPGR, his best placement on the rankings and the first time he outplaced Armada, Mew2King, and Mango.

In the second half of 2018, Plup took two consecutive top 4 placements at notable tournaments. At EVO 2018, he made it to winners finals after defeating Amsah, Westballz, Wizzrobe, and Mango. He fell 3-0 to both Leffen and Armada's Fox, ending in 3rd place which tied with his placement at EVO 2016. Then at Shine 2018, he took sets over S2J, HugS, and ARMY, with losses to Mango and Hungrybox 3-1 putting him in 4th place.

Plup had the strongest losers run in his career at The Big House 8. After being 3-0'd by Bananas, he defeated moky, Lucky, La Luna, Swedish Delight, Leffen, and Zain 3-1, as well as 3-0ing n0ne, Axe, and Mango, making it all the way to grand finals against Hungrybox. He lost 3-1 and was runner-up to Hungrybox for the final time this year.

In his pools at Smash Summit 7 he went 3-0, having wins over Rishi, Wizzrobe, and Zain 3-1. Despite going undefeated in pools, he fell to Mango 3-2 and aMSa 3-0 and placed 9th, ending his streak of 5th place finishes since Smash Summit 2.

2019: An Inconsistent Year
Going into 2019, Plup started his year off not as strong as 2018 but still notable on its own. He took 3rd place at GENESIS 6. His run on winners side had strong sets over 2saint 3-1, and 3-0ing Darkatma, Zain, and aMSa. Shortly after, he was sent into losers by Hungrybox 3-2 and eliminated by Axe in another 3-2 set.

Momentum continued at Pound 2019 with another 3rd place finish. He defeated 42nd to make it out of pools and took additional sets over La Luna, Zain, and S2J. Shortly after he lost to Mango in winners finals and Hungrybox in losers finals.

Despite two top 3 finishes at the beginning of the year, his results started to decline and it remained that way for the rest of the year.

His next tournament was The Big House 9 almost two months later. He placed 9th, defeating Kuyashi 2-0, Rishi and Jakenshaken 3-1, and n0ne 3-2, and had losses against SFAT 3-1 and Fiction 3-0. This ended his two-year streak of placing 2nd at the event.

He ended the year with a 7th place finish at Mango's Birthday Bash, taking sets off of Ryan Ford and La Luna in both 3-1 sets, and losing to both Swedish Delight and Hungrybox in 3-1 sets. Despite his shaky performance by the end of the year, he had enough top 8 placements and his two top 3 finishes at majors were strong enough for him to be ranked 8th on the 2019 MPGR, albeit this was his worst ranking since 2015.

2020
Starting in 2020, Plup attended GENESIS 7, playing all Fox. Unlike his last three top 6 appearances at the event, he lost very quickly out of pools. Two notable upsets from PewPewU and ARMY - the former being strongly 3-0'd and losing in a last stock situation for the latter - placed him in a lackluster result of 25th, being his worst placement in singles since The Big House 6. This was also the first time Plup placed outside of top 12 at GENESIS and is currently his worst placement at the event.

His next tournament was Smash Summit 9. He defeated Shroomed and Magi 3-1, Mango 3-0, and only lost to Hax$ 3-2 and Hungrybox 3-0 in Swiss Pools, qualifying him for winners side in the final bracket. His run in the final bracket had more notable wins than in Swiss Pools: defeating Axe 3-2 after clutching game 5's close last stock situation, 3-0'd Zain, until being sent to losers finals by Hungrybox after a very patient 3-2 set. He eliminated Mango 3-1 in their runback and was against Hungrybox once again. After a explosive start, he was able to reset the bracket 3-1, but the bracket reset started in Hungrybox's favor with him taking the first two games (with Plup messing up his recovery in their last stock situation in game 5). While Plup was able to win the game afterwards, Hungrybox won the reset 3-1. In a sharp contrast to GENESIS 7, this is currently his best Summit placement, his best performance at Smash Summit since its inception, and the only time he was runner-up at the event.

Other Smash games
Outside of Melee, Plup has competed in other Smash games. He slightly dabbled into Smash 4 during the game's early days, only competing in CFL weeklies and very rare major in the case of Apex 2015 where he placed 33rd.

He slightly dabbled into Smash 4 during the game's early days, only competing in CFL weeklies and a very rare major in the case of Apex 2015 where he placed 33rd. In Project M, he played Samus in the game's heyday. He teamed up with Wizzrobe in doubles when he was an active player for the game, placing 1st at both CEO 2014 and Tipped Off 10 and a second place finish at both The Big House 4 and Smash 'N' Splash, placing behind Mew2King and ZeRo and Mew2King and Ally, respectively.

In Ultimate, he primarily plays Mega Man and Ridley and is one of the best Ultimate players who are more known for Melee, considered only behind Leffen. With Mega Man, he has taken sets off of Salem, MVD, and Meme. As Ridley, he solely used the character at Super Smash Con 2019 and placed 49th at the event, being the highest placement for a solo Ridley player at an supermajor before Mezcaul's appearance in the competitive scene. He had notable performances of 17th at two Ultimate supermajors at EVO 2019 and The Big House 9, and was voted in for the first Smash Ultimate Summit although he only placed 13th. He occasionally used Greninja and Mii Brawler<!--Tod--> as counterpicks before retiring the characters. After offline tournaments returned, he rarely competes in Ultimate anymore and never has reached the peaks he did in 2019.

Plup is a smasher from Florida who is currently residing in Oregon, and is considered to be one of the best Melee players in the world. He is one of the best Sheik players in the world, a top Fox player, one of the best Samus players in the world, and one of the best Luigi players in the world.

Plup is also a professional Project M Samus player, with secondaries Meta Knight and Sheik. He took 1st place in CEO 2014 Project M doubles with fellow Florida smasher Wizzrobe. He also participates in Ultimate tournaments playing Mega Man and Ridley with a Greninja secondary, and has wins on Sonix, Salem, MVD, ZD, Meme, Pelca, Atomsk, and PsyKoD.

On June 30th, 2015, Plup was signed by Panda. [1] He left Panda on December 2nd, 2022, following his disapproval of Panda's actions that allegedly resulted in the cancellation of the Smash World Tour 2022 Championships.

Tournament history[edit]

2010-2015: Birth of a Sheikah[edit]

Initially starting as a Samus player, Plup's first notable tournament was at CEO 2010, placing 13th out of 62 entrants. Starting with Advent II, Plup teamed with Hungrybox in doubles, placing 1st at many doubles events and would be his main doubles partner until 2015. Later in 2012, he attended Apex 2012 and placed 33rd with a win over Cyrain. A year later, his next tournament was Apex 2013 where he defeated Tai, and lost to KirbyKaze and PewPewU. He placed 17th at the event, a notable improvement over last year. After a few years of sparse results outside of locals, Plup started to make a name for himself by attending more major tournaments as well as improving his results.

2016-2018: The Rise of the Jorts[edit]

Notably at The Big House 7, he defeated Armada, the only God up to this point he never beat in bracket, becoming the second player to win a set against all of Melee's Five Gods, after Leffen.

2019-present: Soft Decline and the Era of the Spoonfed Fish[edit]

Going into 2019, Plup took 3rd place at GENESIS 6 and Pound 2019. In the next two months, he had two fifth place finishes at both Smash 'N' Splash 5 and CEO 2019. Due to not starting off as strong as the previous year, having slightly less notable wins, and stiff competition, his ranking dropped to 7th on the Summer 2019 MPGR. Unfortunately, the second half of the year became a slump in Plup's career. At Super Smash Con 2019, he fell to both Swedish Delight and Axe to place 17th at the event. Shine 2019 was the next tournament he attended, he progressed in winners side of pools and defeated HugS 3-0, but unfortunately DQ'd in 17th place due to sickness.[2] His next tournament was The Big House 9 almost two months later and would place 9th after losing to SFAT and Fiction.

Other Smash games[edit]

Outside of Melee, Plup has competed in other Smash games.

He occasionally used Greninja and Mii Brawler as counterpicks before retiring the characters. After offline tournaments returned, he rarely competes in Ultimate anymore and never has reached the peaks he did in 2019.

Trivia[edit]

  • Plup has an even record with Leffen (8-8).
  • Plup humorously forgot to receive his medal on stage with the other top 8 finishers at EVO 2015.
  • Plup dropped and broke his 1st place trophy at DreamHack Atlanta 2017, which was later replaced.
  • Plup has taken at least 1 set off of each of the members of the 2015 top 6. He first defeated Hungrybox at Advent II, Leffen at Paragon Orlando 2015, Mango at EVO 2015, PPMD at Smash Summit, Mew2King at Battle of the Five Gods, and Armada at The Big House 7.
  • By placing 5th at CEO Dreamland while using only Luigi, Plup became the highest placing Luigi ever at a major Melee tournament, beating Abate's 7th place finish at The Big House 5.
  • Plup is the second player to defeat each of the Five Gods in a tournament set at least once (after Leffen).
    • Plup is also the only player that has taken multiple sets off of each of the Five Gods.
  • In a set against Chillin at Get On My Level 2019, Chillin's Fox beat out Plup's Sheik in the first game. This prompted Plup to switch to Fox to close out the set, and he ended up going only Fox for the rest of the tournament. This prompted various memes afterward that "Chillin retired Plup's Sheik" that the Smash community has joked about.
  • In 2019, Plup guest-starred on a REACT "Secret Pro Gamer" episode, in which he played Ultimate against and easily defeated the reactors, initially with reactor Eric posing as Plup, with the latter hidden behind a curtain.
  • Since winning the Smash World Tour 2021 Championships, Plup is commonly associated with a GIF (and emote, known as plupYUMYUM) of a koi fish being spoonfed.[3] This emote is often spammed in tournament stream chats whenever Plup is playing to cheer him on, alluding to him "consuming" or "devouring" his opponents.
    • The ubiquity of the fish (accredited to the efforts of Melee/Minecraft player NotEnder) has led to Hungrybox, Armada, Riddles, and others to make their own spins on the emote.
  • Plup is the second player to complete Melee's All-Star gameplay mode on the Very Hard difficulty with every character (after Canadian Fox player Laser).[4] The feat (which does not involve the use of continues) took him over two years to accomplish.
    • Plup is also the only player to have beaten All-Star, Very Hard with every character, plus Giga Bowser.
  • Plup is the subject of a satirical feud with YouTube content creator AsumSaus, stemming from a video the latter made on the importance of port priority.
  • After leaving Panda, Plup switched to using Sheik's blue-themed costume.
