==Creature description==
Starmie is a moderately large purple two-layered starfish with a large red jewel in its center, and the evolved form of [[Staryu]]. The in-game Pokédex explains that its symmetrical geometric body, which grows that way regardless of the environment it lives in, has led people to suspect that it is an alien creature. Its central core glows with the seven colors of the rainbow, glowing in a different color each time it is seen, and it is believed it is communicating when it glows in these colors. It is actually said that it uses its core to send mysterious radio signals and electric waves into outer space, and is thus believed to have come from space. Some people value the core as a gem, and because of Starmie's luminous nature, it has been given the nickname "The gem of the sea". People in ancient times imagined that Starmie were transformed from the reflections of stars that twinkled on gentle waves at nights. It swims through water by spinning its star-shaped body as if it were a propeller on a ship.

Starmie (Japanese: スターミー, Sutāmī) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

In Super Smash Bros.

As of now, Starmie has made only one appearance in the series.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon

Starmie appears in Super Smash Bros. out of Poké Balls. Its attack is similar to the attack of Staryu in SSBM. It will fly around the screen to find another character to shoot at. Once it stops moving and targets a character, Starmie will start to use Swift. Starmie will not move once it starts using Swift. Any character that makes contact with Swift will take damage. Any character can also take damage if they touch Starmie while it's using Swift attack. Starmie's attack does not harm the summoner.
