COLOSSEL 2022 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate major held in Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France from July 2nd-3rd, 2022. The tournament was originally set to take place from July 11th-12th, 2020, as a Gold-tier stop on the Smash World Tour 2020. However, the tournament was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and likewise became a Gold-tier stop on the Smash World Tour 2022. At 1,024 entrants, this was the first European Smash tournament to surpass the 1,000 entrants mark, making France the third region to surpass this milestone; it was also the largest European Smash tournament of all time until it was surpassed by Tera in September 2023. Due to its size, some sources, such as the OrionRank 2022 and Liquipedia, consider the event a supermajor, though others, such as SmashWiki and UltRank 2022, only consider the the event a major due to a lack of players in the top 50 in attendance.
