LVL UP EXPO 2026 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate supermajor held in Las Vegas, Nevada, from April 24th-26th, 2026.
Tournament summary[edit]
Similar to the previous iteration, numerous international players were in attendance at the event, especially from Japan. In total, 15 of the UltRank 2025's top 20, including 9 of the ranking's top 10, were in attendance. Alongside the notable players in attendance was Samsora, who made his first major tournament appearance since the early metagame, and his first notable event since his recommended ban level on the CSRP was dropped to B.
The tournament's initial seeding received criticism for multiple reasons with some players being over/underseeded (such as Doramigi, the incumbent #1 player who had recently won a major in addition to being the previous victor of LVL UP EXPO, who was only seeded 6th) and several regional conflicts (such as Tristate players Zomba, Jakal, and Syrup and Mexico players MkLeo and Sparg0 being seeded in the same side of bracket). It was revealed that the initial seeding draft used SchuStat's seeding algorithm and after player feedback, the seeding was updated.
Doramigi repeated his LVL UP EXPO victory from the previous year. Along with #3 seed acola, Doramigi was the only other Top 8 seed to make it to Winner's side Top 8 safely, with his only difficult encounter being a close reverse 3-0 set against #25 seed Neo in Winner's Quarterfinals. In Top 8, Doramigi dismantled crêpe salée 3-0 to make it to Winner's Finals to face off against acola, with acola's counterpicking to Mr. Game & Watch. Avenging his previous loss to acola's Mr. Game & Watch, Doramigi won the runback 3-2 to enter Grand Finals. On the other side of bracket, Zomba went on a lengthy Losers run after losing to Asimo before Top 24; his Losers run saw him eliminate Sonix, Toon, Neo, Carmelo, Asimo in the runback, crêpe salée, and acola to meet Doramigi in Grand Finals. Though Zomba won the first set 3-1, Doramigi prevailed in the reset 3-2.
Doramigi's victory placed him in contention for the #1 position in the first half of 2026, especially as most of his other competition either underperformed or had their resumes disrupted. Hurt, the #2 seed of the event, was double-eliminated by Light in 2 game 5 sets, finishing 7th; their first set especially saw Hurt accidentally self-destruct with C4 on the final stock of the set. #6 seed Carmelo, a recent contender due to his victory at DELTA x Seibugeki Open the week prior, lost to MuteAce 0-3 and, after making a decent Losers run into top 8, lost to Zomba in a game 5 time-out. Finally, #4 seed Sonix lost to Riddles 2-3 before also falling victim to Zomba's losers run, finishing 17th.
Among other underperformances, #5 seed Miya was knocked into Losers by crêpe salée 1-3 before being eliminated by Hurt 0-3 to finish 13th, the first time he had missed top 8 at a major since the previous LVL UP EXPO. In addition, #9 seed Sparg0's slump continued at the event, as he was knocked into Losers by Ouch!? 1-3 and was eliminated by Hurt 2-3; however, Sparg0 tournament run came with a win over #8 Tweek, whom he defeated 3-1 and eliminated at 25th. Tweek previously lost to Neo 2-3. Finally, #12 seed MkLeo lost to crêpe salée in a reverse 3-0 before losing to Nyonoknb to finish 17th.
