Spring 2020 PGRU
Due to concerns over players attempting to game the rankings, the methodology has received an overhaul. Rankings are now panel-based instead of using an algorithm, in a similar fashion to the MPGR. The rankings themselves have been extended by 50 places and now ranks the top 100 players instead of 50. Players in Area 51 now count for the PGRU, and five additional "rising stars" would be considered for PGR tournaments 3 months into the season; both will be worth the same as those ranked from 31-50. The international multiplier has been changed as well: the multiplier for the continental United States and Japan remained the same; however, the multiplier everywhere else has changed to ~1.67x; the C-tier threshold for those countries is now 120. Disqualifications for entrants in free-to-enter tournaments are counted, and a 1-DQ buffer was given to S-tier tournaments. Finally, there are plans for an off-season starting in December and ending in January.
