The protagonist of Persona 4 is the player character, and leader of a group of high school students known as the Investigation Team. Although the player can name him in his game, in the media following Persona 4, he has the official name Yu Narukami (鳴上 悠, Narukami Yu).

Origin

The protagonist is a high school student staying in the small, rural town of Inaba with his uncle Ryotaro Dojima and cousin Nanako, as his own parents are working abroad. As he makes friends and studies, various unexplained murders occur in the small town, and a mysterious TV channel switches on every foggy midnight, called the Midnight Channel. The protagonist and his high school friends can enter televisions to explore the mysterious Midnight Channel, also called TV World, and slay monsters called Shadows, which represent people's darkest secrets.

A DLC costume for Mii Swordfighter based on the Protagonist is available for purchase in Ultimate. This causes the sword trails to become yellow, hearkening back to the aesthetics of Persona 4.
