The Labrador Retriever is one of many breeds of dogs available to be bought in the Nintendogs series of games. Its availability at the start of a Nintendogs game varies with each game, with some games requiring the potential owner to unlock the breed.
The Labrador Retriever appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It was first seen in E3 2006 and was believed to be an item of its own. However, much later it was confirmed to be an Assist Trophy. This Assist Trophy covers the whole screen, including players' names, much like how Nintendogs cover the screen in the original Nintendogs game when they are trying to play with their owner. The Labrador Retriever blots out the whole screen, even for the summoner. This is one of the most annoying Assist Trophies ever.

You can train them, use dog toys to play with them, and feed them treats to establish a real link with your virtual pet.
