Cavalier Clash 6 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate major and Super Smash Bros. Melee regional held in Charlottesville, Virginia from March 1st-2nd, 2025.
Tournament summary[edit]
Despite initial worries about its tiering due to Luminosity Madness's announcement, which conflicted with Cavalier Clash 6, the tournament eventually reached A+ tier on the LumiRank 2025 TTS, making Cavalier Clash 6 the first non-Supernova open bracket major in MD/VA since Pound 2022 in 2022.
For the most part, the bracket ran normally, with all of the top 8 seeds (aside from Dabuz, who disqualified) making top 8. There were still several upsets, however, the most notable being #21 seed Susu defeating #4 seed Light 3-0, #28 seed Free KayFlock defeating #5 seed ShinyMark 3-2, and #27 seed Pharaoh defeating #6 seed Kola 3-2 (all upset factor 5). As such, all three upset players entered top 8 on the Losers side.
Conversely, following his first A-tier top 8 last week, Susu was able to enter top 8 on the Winners side at Cavalier Clash 6, becoming the sixth European player to top 8 an international major. He fell to Sparg0 1-3, and, after defeating Kola 3-0 (upset factor 4), lost the runback against Light 0-3 to place 4th, tying Sisqui as the second-highest placing European player at an international major. In addition, Light clawed his way through the Losers bracket, winning game 5 sets against Tarik, ShinyMark, and Glutonny, before defeating Susu and eliminating Sparg0 to enter Grand Finals. Meeting Light in Grand Finals was Syrup, who had surprisingly defeated Sparg0 in Winners Finals with Ness 3-2. Though Light defeated Syrup dominantly in the first game, Syrup was able to prevent several comebacks from Light in subsequent games, ultimately defeating Light 3-1 to win his first major. Thus, Syrup became the fifth Steve player to win a major and the third Steve player to win an A tier and above in the LumiRank 2025 season. In addition, Syrup used Ness to win two sets in bracket (against Sparg0 and Tarik), and as such this is considered one of the greatest Ness performances in the post-pandemic metagame.
