Peppy Hare (ペッピー・ヘア Peppī Hea) was a member of the original Star Fox team, with leader James McCloud and wingmate Pigma Dengar. After Pigma's betrayal and James' capture, Peppy narrowly escaped to return to Corneria to inform Fox McCloud of his father's fate. Ever since then, Peppy became a new father figure to Fox, serving as his mentor and frequently giving Fox instructions and advice throughout the course of the game, such as doing a "barrel-roll".
Before the events of Star Fox 64, Peppy and his wife Vivian had their daughter Lucy, who later became a teacher on the planet Fichina. When Peppy flew for the Star Fox team, Lucy was left in care of Vivian on Corneria. Not long after the defeat of Andross, Vivian succumbed to illness, leaving Peppy the widowed father to Lucy.
