The following contains a list of unlockables a player can obtain in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Characters[edit]

The starter characters are the same as in Super Smash Bros.: Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, and Pikachu. Most other characters can be unlocked by playing Versus Mode matches, clearing Classic Mode with a specific character, or awakening them in Adventure Mode: World of Light.

Mii Fighters[edit]

Each of the three types of Mii Fighter can be unlocked by simply creating one in the Games & More menu, or by awakening the Mii Fighter of that type in Adventure Mode: World of Light, which is based on the type's default Mii.

DLC[edit]

Players who purchased the game in the eShop or registered a physical copy with My Nintendo before January 31st, 2019 received a free download code for Piranha Plant. After this date, it became available for purchase. The pricing is $5 USD.

Joker, Hero, Banjo & Kazooie, Terry, and Byleth are available as a bundle through the Fighters Pass Vol. 1. A second Fighters Pass consisting of Min Min, Steve, Sephiroth, Pyra/Mythra, Kazuya and Sora is available to purchase as well. All DLC fighters are also available to purchase individually.

Stages[edit]

All stages in the base game are available from the start, making it the only Smash Bros. game to do so. However, each of the 11 downloadable characters are bundled with a stage:

  1. Mementos (bundled with Joker)
  2. Yggdrasil's Altar (bundled with Hero)
  3. Spiral Mountain (bundled with Banjo & Kazooie)
  4. King of Fighters Stadium (bundled with Terry)
  5. Garreg Mach Monastery (bundled with Byleth)
  6. Spring Stadium (bundled with Min Min)
  7. Minecraft World (bundled with Steve)
  8. Northern Cave (bundled with Sephiroth)
  9. Cloud Sea of Alrest (bundled with Pyra & Mythra)
  10. Mishima Dojo (bundled with Kazuya)
  11. Hollow Bastion (bundled with Sora)

The first five stages are also part of Fighters Pass Vol. 1, with the remaining six being part of Fighters Pass Vol. 2.

Spirits[edit]

Music[edit]

Most of the unlockable music in the game can be bought at the Shop. DLC fighters in the Fighters Passes are bundled with their own music tracks. Music can also be obtained by completing challenges and by playing through World of Light.

Milestones[edit]

Milestones are achievements that announce something the player has done, like fighting a specific number of battles or clearing certain modes for the first time. They can also reward the player when completed.

Mii outfits and headgear[edit]

Unlockable outfits and headgear can be obtained by spending gold in the shop and completing certain challenges, with the following exceptions.

DLC[edit]

A Mii Swordfighter costume based on Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is obtained by purchasing the Fighters Pass Vol. 1. Likewise, a Mii Swordfighter costume based on the Ancient Soldier Gear from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is obtained by purchasing the Fighters Pass Vol. 2.

The costumes Morgana Hat, Persona 4 Protagonist (Mii Swordfighter), Teddie Hat, Persona 3 Protagonist (Mii Swordfighter), Tails (Mii Gunner), Knuckles (Mii Brawler), Veronica (Mii Swordfighter), Erdrick (Mii Swordfighter), Martial Artist (Mii Brawler), Slime Hat, Team Rocket (Mii Brawler), Proto Man (Mii Gunner), Zero (Mii Swordfighter), Goemon (Mii Swordfighter), Sans (Mii Gunner) and Vault Boy (Mii Gunner) are available separately as paid DLC.
