Tournament:GENESIS 2
GENESIS 2 was a tournament held by Sidefx and the crew DBR in July 2011, featuring Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl singles and doubles as main events, as well as smaller Super Smash Bros. and Project M singles side events. It was the successor of the first GENESIS. Held in Antioch, California and sponsored by Red Bull and SABERGAMING, the tournament had one of the most entrants and prize money ever seen at a tourney, with over 300 attendants and $22,000 in prize money. A notorious incident of theft occurred at this tournament, committed by renowned smasher and Death By Rape crew member Zelgadis. After most of the crew members had left the hotel room for the day on Sunday, July 17th, Zelgadis returned to the room with his friend Clayton to search for a jacket he had left behind, and then stole an envelope accidentally left on a bed (containing $6,000 in pot bonuses from Sabergaming), returning to Clayton's home to store the money there. After the rest of the crew accused Zelgadis of stealing the envelope when they found it was missing, Zelgadis reportedly lied to them, repeatedly saying that he had not stolen the envelope. After police involvement and almost four hours of investigation, Zelgadis admitted that he had stolen the envelope, and all of the cash was returned. The incident severely damaged Zelgadis's reputation, as well as the reputations of DBR and the Smash community as a whole. Mew2King also received a red card under the Unity Ruleset Infraction System at this tournament, for "intentional under-performance", when he chose Ganondorf in a Brawl pool match against Sade. ContentsRuleset[edit]GENESIS 2 featured two rulesets for Melee and Brawl. Modifications involving turning on team attack and combining percents and stocks to determine ties were made for doubles. Melee ruleset[edit]
Brawl ruleset[edit]GENESIS 2 used the Unity Ruleset for Brawl.
Infraction system[edit]GENESIS 2 followed the Unity infraction system. Mew2King received a red card for intentional underperformance in his pools set against smasher Sade, following his yellow card for bracket manipulation at KTAR 5. Crews[edit]Due to the lack of crews from region specific areas, crew battles for both Melee and Brawl were extended to West Coast vs East Coast. West Coast ended up winning both crew battles, with Gnes KO'ing Atomsk in the Brawl match and Mango taking out Dr. PeePee in the Melee match. Brawl WC vs. EC Crew Battle[edit]
