The Pikmin universe refers to the Super Smash Bros. collection of stages, characters and properties that hails from the Pikmin franchise. Its appearance as a major universe was quite a surprise for many fans. The basic plot in the series is to have Captain Olimar collect various objects from a planet that closely resembles Earth, using the so-called Pikmin and return to the home planet within a limit of days.

Franchise description

As a demo to show off the capacites of the Nintendo GameCube, Shigeru Miyamoto showed of a Mario game called Super Mario 128. The demo started of with a walking 2-D Mario that eventually got into a big, flat planet. A Mario was starting to throw away box and later more boxes with many more Marios that eventually helped and the first elements to Pikmin, Metroid Prime and Super Mario Galaxy was born.

The first Pikmin began that Captain Olimar was shipwrecked on a Earth-like planet during his vacation with his spaceships parts all scattered around the planet. To help to recover the parts, he found out that there was several creatures called Pikmin (which he named after PikPik carrots, which Pikmin resemble) that could help him out, but different colors came with different abilities. Red Pikmins that are invulnerable to flames, Yellows that can jump extra high and pick up bombs, and Blue Pikmins that could stand against water. Together, they explored five areas before Captain Olimar set off.

In Pikmin 2, the game started with that Olimar's vacation was ended. However, his boss company Hocotate Freight was ruined and even had to sell Olimar's ship. Shocked as he got, he dropped a bottle cap. It ran into the only working ship and it turned out it was worth 100 Pokos (the currency of the planet), with was more than a years salary. Shocked of this, the boss sent him and Louie back to the planet to take home more things worth more than 10.000 Pokos. As in the first game, Pikmins were featured, but new ones appeared as well. Purples that was heavy and lifted havy objects, and whites that both withstands and has poison.

Character

  • Pikmin and Olimar: The protoganist of the Pikmin series, Captain Olimar has been greatly graphically enhanced, like the other characters of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However, he's quite weak on his own -- without Pikmin, he can't even do a Smash Attack. Not much else has been revealed about him.
