GENESIS, branded as GENESIS X since 2024, is a tournament series held annually in Northern California, primarily organized by Boback and members of the DBR crew. The tournament series began in 2009 and since 2016 has been the major Smash event near the beginning of the year or season (sans 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). It is widely regarded as one of the premier Smash tournament series, especially following Apex's decline, and one of the largest Smash-centric events each year alongside Supernova, regularly boasting over 2,000 entrants. Due to its prestige and timing, GENESIS is often referred to as the "Super Bowl" of Super Smash Bros.

Outside of Smash, GENESIS has held events for a variety of other fighting games, including those in the Street Fighter and Rivals of Aether series. In addition, starting with GENESIS X, the event shifted into a more general gaming convention featuring multiple other fighting game titles as well as competitive tabletop and trading card games, though the event remains primarily centered around Smash.
