Jungle Level

Origin

This is also a remix of the Jungle Groove theme from Donkey Kong Country. This version pays more homage to the original version and has a more ambient feel, with jungle noises in the background. This theme has become the Donkey Kong series' most iconic and representive musical piece.

Composition & Arrangements

Arrangement Supervisor: Kentaro Ishizaka

Originally Composed by: David Wise, Rareware

Other Uses

This track is also heard in The Jungle and part of The Great Maze, levels in the Subspace Emissary.

Trivia

  • Counting Jungle Level Ver.2 as the third, this remix of Jungle Level if the fourth remix of the same song in Super Smash Bros. history. The Congo Jungle stage in Super Smash Bros. (which also returned in Super Smash Bros. Melee) had a remix of the Jungle Level theme, as did the Jungle Japes stage in Melee, which also returned for Brawl, music included.

King K. Rool/Ship Deck 2

Origin

The final boss theme heard in Donkey Kong Country, on the 'Gangplank Galleon' level from which this track originally received its name from. In this stage, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong fought King K. Rool. The Brawl version starts as a sea shanty melody on accordion, then transitions into a hard rock tune. 'Snakey Chantey' was the name of the music on the 'Rattle Battle' stage of World 3 in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. The track Snakey Chantey in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest began in the same theme as the Donkey Kong Country boss music, then looped into a variation of that theme. The same music is also used when battling King K. Rool. The song in Brawl is closer to the Donkey Kong Country boss music. Also, unlike in both Donkey Kong Country games, Brawl loops this music to the beginning.

Composition & Arrangements

Arrangement Supervisor: Shogo Sakai

Originally Composed by: David Wise, Rareware

Other Uses

This track is played during the role call when Classic mode is completed with Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong. It is also played in The Lake level of the Subspace Emissary.

Bramble Blast

Origin

This track is a remix of what is known within its own game of debut as 'Stickerbrush Symphony' from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. This played on each of the bramble-based stages in the game, including the first stage it appeared on called 'Bramble Blast', the stage the Brawl track took its name from. The stage had a player moving through the bramble maze, trying not to touch the thorns of the brambles, known officially as stickerbrushes. The Brawl version of this song uses different instruments, such as strings, and feels less stressful like it did within Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest but more joyful.

Composition & Arrangements

Arrangement Supervisor: Michiko Naruke

Battle For Storm Hill

Origin

This is a track taken directly from Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, where it was the background music to the first stage of the Durian Kingdom named 'Battle for Storm Hill', where trivially, the track is the only piece of music in the game only to appear in one stage. The track is named 'Battle For Storm Hill' as the stage consisted of Donkey Kong climbing a hill at night during a rainy storm, while cannons on the hill fired at him.

This track is another track that plays in The Lake level of the Subspace Emissary, when riding the raft on the river, and it is also played when fighting False Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong in The Great Maze.

Opening (Donkey Kong)

Origin

A remix/medley of several pieces of music from Donkey Kong. Starting off with the track that played during the opening in Donkey Kong on the NES (which also appeared in Donkey Kong Country, where Cranky Kong would play it on his music box), then the soundbyte that played buring the 'Game Start', the 25m level music and the music that played when Jumpman picked up and started flailing the Hammer. All of these parts of the track are based more upon the NES version of Donkey Kong's soundtrack, rather than the arcade version.
