Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield! (ソード・シールド発売! ポケモントーナメント), known as Pokémon Sword & Shield Launch! in PAL regions, was an Event Tourney based around the Pokémon series. It ran from 6 a.m. on November 15, 2019 to 6 a.m. on November 18, 2019 (UTC), coinciding with the release of the newest entry in the series at the time of the Tourney, Pokémon Sword and Shield. During the event, only characters and stages from the Pokémon series could be used. Additionally, only Pokémon spirits were awarded as prizes.

TriviaEdit

  • Despite the event being named after Pokémon Sword and Shield, a majority of the playable Pokémon were absent from said games at launch; only Charizard, Pichu, Pikachu, and Lucario were present at release.
    • Ivysaur, Squirtle, Mewtwo and Incineroar are fully coded in the games' data, but were unobtainable until the release of Pokémon HOME. Jigglypuff would not be added into the game until the Isle of Armor update, and Greninja is completely absent altogether.
