Stroder Ame, commonly known as Stroder and sometimes shortened to Stro, is a Smasher from Arizona known for their expertise over a variety of characters. They were considered one of the best Smash players from Arizona across two different Smash titles.
Stroder first came to prominence in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, primarily playing Greninja. They were considered the best Greninja player in the United States and, in the final few years of the game's lifespan, one of the best in the world. Stroder first came to prominence after placing 3rd at Rise 2016, defeating JK along the way. They eventually broke out nationally at 2GGC: West Side Saga, where they defeated Nairo in a JV2 to finish 13th. alongside other noteworthy performances in the second half of 2017, Stroder was ranked in the Area 51 position on the PGR v4. Outside of that performance, they were also known for their 4th-place finish at GameTyrant Expo 2018, where they defeated Elegant and Charliedaking.
They were also considered one of the best Greninja players in the world, as well as the best in North America, in the early metagame of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, though they were also known for playing several other characters, including Mario, Roy, and Joker. They notably dominated their region, winning nearly every ranked Ascension event as well as other Southwest tournaments, including Smashpoint and Crown. Stroder also found great success at larger events during this time, including defeating Tweek at Ultimate Nimbus, Samsora and Cosmos at Mainstage, ESAM at 2GG: Prime Saga, and Maister at Glitch 8 - Missingno. Their results in the first half of the year led them to rank 29th on the Spring 2019 PGRU, while for the entire year, they were ranked 27th on the OrionRank 2019.
Stroder joined team ZENMA on August 15th, 2019, along with many other smashers. Approximately two weeks later, on August 30th, 2019, Stroder, along with many of the other smashers signed by team ZENMA, announced that they were leaving the organization due to controversies with its CEO, false[1]. On July 25th, 2020, they joined Nevermore International.

Controversies[edit]
On July 19th, 2019, Ryuga posted screenshots of Stroder and Bocchi using racial slurs in a private server on the platform Discord.[2] Stroder would later tweet hours later acknowledging their comments and apologizing for their usage of the slurs.[3] This incident resulted in Down B Collaborations rescinding Stroder's invitation to the Minnesota regional Overextend.[4]
Their comments also resulted in them parting ways with their sponsor, Tuxedo Esports, on July 23rd, 2019.[5]
- At 2GGC: West Side Saga, Stroder notably competed wearing a frog onesie. They wore it again for 2GGC: MkLeo Saga, only for doubles.
- Stroder is also an accomplished player in Rivals of Aether, being ranked #33 on the Season 4 Rankings.
- Stroder frequently DQ's from events while in winners.
