Tom Nook is a main character of the Animal Crossing series. In the games, he is the owner of the shop in each town, and he also lends the player the money for a house, which the villager pays back throughout the course of the game.
Oddly enough, he was said to be one of the most requested characters for Super Smash Bros. Brawl before the game's release.
