Round 71: Mario vs. Mr. Game & Watch

Two of Nintendo's oldest icons - one the most famous, the other the most unexpected. They both are jacks-of-all-trades, they both help whomever needs it, and they both have experience with existing in two dimensions at once - which one will win?

This week's bout is between the two lower members of the "chu" line. While one needs no introduction in the world of Pokémon, the other is only a Smasher through sheer luck and was given artificial handicaps to keep its power down. Still, it had quite the fan following - is it enough to matter in this battle?

The Smash Arena is a popularity contest involving voting, not actual fights, so stop complaining about these votes not being close. If you were to understand the basics of voting, you would see that landslide victories are much more common than close, nearly tied votes. I'll also like to add that Toomai nor the person making the suggestion has no foresight on how the vote will turn out, so demanding "close matchups" to be chosen is demanding something that cannot be done (not to mention that trying to choose "close matchups" only will cause the Smash Arena to lose out on interesting matchups with no real gain in return). So keep this all in mind the next time you complain about a vote not being close. Oh, and never insult Toomai nor the person who made the suggestion based on such a ridiculous basis they have no control over.
