January 1 List

Zeni, Snake, Lizard, Yoshi, Lucas. Holy shit. All 5 of them have jumped at least 13 places from the previous list. It seems that due to the game's totally dead status, players of all the underrated characters who decided to stick with the game for whatever reason have begun their rise from the depths of mediocrity. Meanwhile, mainstream overrated trash like Ike, G&W, and Toon Link have dropped like a freaking rock. Also, Ice Climbers. Poor Ice Climbers. First, they lose their chance to get back into smuh-forsche, then they lose their chance to be top tier in PM. Oh well, no one cares about them anyway.

December 1 List

So, now that this game is officially dead, the results are only going to get more and more skewed as the data size gets smaller and smaller.

Wonderful.

Anyway, Fox is not in the top 5 for the first time ever for some reason (perhaps because players have only just realized that this game is not, in fact, a carbon copy of Melee) and ZSSamus sits at the top for the second list in a row. Mewtwo and Luigi have bounced back, Pit is still abnormally high for how (apparently) sucky he is, and Koopa has finally broken his gradual slide by crawling out of the shitty abyss. Once again, Olimar and Pikachu are stuck at the very bottom, no doubt due to being victims of the game's relative unfinishedness. In fact, I was originally considering putting Pikachu in his own tier at the bottom, but the bottom two characters are so far detached from anything even remotely resembling the word "okay" that at this point, it really doesn't matter. Only time will tell if these things remain as they are.

November 1 List

For this list, I've decided to use only the ranking data for top 8+ placements, and holy shit, does it show. Fushigisou dropped so hardcore that he somehow underflowed and ended up near the top, while Samus once again falls back into mediocrity. For shame. Nevertheless, this may very well be the shakeup that we all needed to avoid having to deal with all the noobs who dragged their respective characters down by succeeding in not knowing how to play their own characters.

Also, yes, I am aware that this list is over a week late. No, I'm not going to apologize.

October 1 List

We may very well be nearing the end of an era here. Fox has dropped below 400 plays in the past 6 months, and all but maybe 3 characters have seen a noticeable decline in their numbers. We have something "big" in the PM community getting revealed this weekend at TBH5. We may be near the end of competitive PM as we know it.

Time to kick back, relax, and enjoy the fireworks. Of course, by fireworks, I mean OH SHIT SAMUS BROKE THE TOP 20. Also, some other characters dropped off or shot up but SAMUS IS BACK! Amazing. I'm pretty sure this is the highest she's ever rated on these lists.
