User:Brolunite/Brawl Minus Zeus
This page contains all pieces of release history of Zeus (also known Brawl Minus Zeus) — mod of Brawl and sub-mod of Brawl Minus — I could gather while doing research for writing its section in the Brawl Minus page.
Information about the mod's development history is hazy at best due to being a Japanese-developed mod of another mod, so I want to keep my notes documented somewhere for archival purposes.
Release history[edit]
Note: Some versions need to be tested to confirm certain roster changes (mostly L-load characters)

Some stage changes. | Expanded to 49 fighters (Engine limitations desyncs Wi-Fi if the CSS has more than 50 slots)
Unused character files for Isaac, including moveset and models, can be found within the files. Character icons for Bomberman and OoT Ganondorf (likely for the Prince of Darkness Ganondorf moveset) can be found in the CSS files as well. |

A fix to make further CSS expansion compatible with Wi-Fi was attempted, but resulted in a failure due to incompatibility with the JP version of Brawl, prompting the devs to hastily disable a bit of the roster for the time being. Possible other L-load changes not listed here. |

Unclear if CSS issues were resolved and temp removals (specifically L-loads) were reverted. I suspect roster alteration were made to make room for the new characters. Needs testing. |

GitHub commit
There was a version listed "BMX+ 1.0" on the website added at some point between 04/20/2018 and 08/25/2018 (See "Latest Version" (top right)) which I assume is the same as this one. |
| ? | ? | ? | No idea what version this is, this video shows a build in-between "First Beta" and the current version. (No Mage Ganondorf, Toon Link or Inkling, but Mia is still present) | |

| Unreleased | BMZ+ 1.2 | Unreleased. | The cap on slots appears to have been worked around at this point
|
First instance of "BMZ+1.2" in a dev livestream from April 2019 - Last instance of a "BMZ+1.2" version from June 2019 (extra characters were added) |
| N/A | 1.5 | Upcoming release. | Expanded to 102+ fighters as of Feb. 2022
While there is no direct confirmation that L-load characters still exist, Project Apollo (see below) seems to confirm the existence of them. By this point, the only legacy Zeus characters not present are Olimar, Marisa and Mega Man. Zero Suit Samus was changed to her NES Metroid design and back between updates. |

Submods[edit]
Poseidon[edit]
Poseidon was a music pack for Zeus 2.3 made by third-party and would-be Minus dev Doq. The pack was created because the base mod featured no custom music. It was released on June 22, 2014 and its only known version is v1.1, though its download link is no longer available.
Apollo[edit]
After Poseidon was made, its creator went on to create Project Apollo. This submod was simply a revamp of Zeus' menu, CSS, SSS, and info HUD, trying to stay faithful to the Zeus style. Apollo was released on the same day as Poseidon, June 22, 2014, as version v0.7, though the download and previews of said version are likewise no longer available.
Despite becoming obsolete with later Zeus updates and the lack of activity, Project Apollo would be revived years later. A GitHub for the project with the stated goal to "aim to add quality and polish to Zeus" would be created on September 23, 2019, and a first version of the mod would be created on February 2, 2020. This version is built for NTSC-U and appears to be based on an unreleased WIP build of Zeus from that time, as it contains characters only seen in WIP footage. Looking through the files, we can find characters otherwise not seen in WIP Zeus footage, such as L-load characters, Marisa and Saber (Fate/stay night). This 2020 GitHub version has remained untouched save for two insignificant commits, but the project appears to be worked on in parallel with the upcoming version of Zeus.
