There are various attacks in the Smash Bros. series that cause the electric effect. Targets hit by these attacks will be shocked and spark for a second or two. Electric attacks have other effects:

• They increase the freeze frames of an attack.
• They do no damage to Yellow Pikmin, which will not flinch.
• They are strengthened by Electric Attack stickers.
• They are weakened by Electric Resistance stickers.

The majority of magic and PK attacks use the electric effect. The electric effect is easily confused with the paralyze effect.

• Falco - Reflector, Blaster
• Fox - Reflector
• Ganondorf - neutral, Dark Dive
• Giga Bowser - up smash, neutral air, back air, down air, Whirling Fortress
• Kirby - can copy Thunder Jolt
• Lucas - forward tilt (sweetspotted), up tilt (tip), dash attack, up smash, down smash, neutral air, forward air (sweetspotted), back air, down air, PK Thunder, PSI Magnet
• Mewtwo - neutral air
• Mr. Game & Watch - Judgment (number 5)
• Ness - dash attack, forward air, back air (sweetspotted), PK Flash, PK Thunder
• Olimar - With a Yellow Pikmin, all Pikmin-based attacks (all smashes, all air attacks except for neutral air, pummel and all throws, Pikmin Throw, and Pikmin Chain).
• Pikachu - Forward smash, down smash (SSBM/SSBB), forward air, down air, pummel, forward throw (back throw instead in SSB), Thunder Jolt, Skull Bash (SSBM), Quick Attack (SSBM/SSBB), Thunder, Volt Tackle
• R.O.B. - forward smash, Diffusion Beam
• Samus - up throw, Grapple Beam, Charge Shot, Screw Attack (last hit), Zero Laser
• Sheik - Chain (the tip)
• Zelda - neutral, up tilt, dash attack, up smash, forward smash (last hit), neutral air (last hit), forward air (sweetspotted), back air (sweetspotted), down air (sweetspotted), pummel, down throw
• Zero Suit Samus - up smash, forward smash, neutral air, forward throw, Paralyzer, Plasma Whip, Plasma Wire, Power Suit Samus
