SmashWiki:Smasher Project
Encompasses all smasher articles overhauled with Template:smasherbeta and standardized formatting; however, they're all going to be stubs, except for the following articles that I am able and willing to expand:

Tournament/Community Articles

SmashWiki:Character Project
Character-related articles, obviously, but also articles for character-specific techniques and the like.

:: Long Term Cleanup...

Selected articles that should exist, but in their current form, are not up to my standards. Generally, I'm not exactly all that concerned with getting these ones done since I have a pretty full plate, but moreover it's a pretty good to-do list for enthusiastic wiki editors who want to help the overall project!

To be merged...

:: If I Were A SysOp...

Articles/tasks that require adminitrator privileges on the wiki to take care of. As I've observed before, I would obviously be a useful sysop and a lot of stuff would get done a lot quicker, but my criticisms of SWF's administration in general seems to have disqualified me from improving said administration in a more hands-on sort of way. Which is either really petty and selfish or just ignorant of my countless attempts both here and at the boards. Har de har.

Hiya! I'm Randall. I do lots of tournament/community-related editing, wrote the bulk of the Luigi article and threw together SmashWiki: Smasher Project, which should effectively standardize all smasher article formatting and help cleanup the official SmashWiki representation of competitors worldwide.

I've also opted to use this userpage space to maintain a series of Smash-related lists that I've been trying to keep straight in my head forever. It includes the kinds of things that smashers always want to tell other smashers but nobody wants to hear, such as a list of primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary, etc. characters that I play. Again, generally people don't care if Dr. Mario is your fourteenth-best character, but for posterity I like to keep track of my own progress in learning the game as a whole and I'm a numbers person, so I like tracking arbitrary top 10 lists and meaningless statistics. Besides, on occasion I will offhandedly mention how Pikachu is my second worst character and people will almost always ask who's the worst. Well, here's the place to find out. Mostly these lists will be used by me for my own reference and will change subtlely over time, but if you find yourself entertained by them, I can't very well tell you not to read them--but I warn you...it is a waste of your time.

Arbitrary RJM Lists & Statistics

Strongest SSBM Characters

This list documents all characters in Super Smash Bros. Melee listed in the order in which I am best capable of playing them. However, the list only reflects my skill level within the scope of potential that the character possesses. For example, although I'm sure my Link could defeat my Young Link in an actual match pitted against one another, I have a better understanding of Young Link and the tools he possesses and he therefore appears higher on the list.

  1. Luigi
  2. Fox
  3. Young Link
  4. Mario
  5. Ness
  6. Ice Climbers
  7. Link
  8. Dr. Mario

  25. Sheik
  26. Donkey Kong

Strongest SSB Characters

This list documents all characters in Super Smash Bros. (N64) listed in the order in which I am best capable of playing them. My knowledge of the competitive game is not as comprehensive as I once thought it was and since it's rather fallen out of fashion, the list may or may not be concurrent with my current 64 Smash abilities.

  1. Luigi
  2. Fox
  3. Captain Falcon
  4. Mario
  5. Ness
  6. Kirby
  7. Jigglypuff
  8. Pikachu
  9. Yoshi
  10. Link
  11. Samus
  12. Donkey Kong

Favourite Smashers

A list of my favourite competitive smashers, based on what limited knowledge and exposure to video footage I have had. Luigi Match-Ups - As Far As I Can Actually Play

Whereas the above list reflects my opinion on how Luigi as a character stands up at the top level of play against other characters, this list reflects how my Luigi fairs against the highest level of competition that I face on a regular basis. In other words, the top of this list reflects the character that I have the most difficult time fighting (Peach) and descends down to Donkey Kong, who I can beat pretty reliably.

  1. Samus
  2. Peach
  3. Sheik
  4. Falco
  5. Ganondorf
  6. Ice Climbers
  7. Jigglypuff
  8. Pikachu
  9. Captain Falcon
  10. Mr. Game & Watch
  11. Fox
  12. Zelda
  13. Marth
  14. Pichu
  15. Roy
  16. Link
  17. Ness
  18. Luigi
  19. Dr. Mario
  20. Mario
  21. Young Link
  22. Bowser
  23. Kirby
  24. Yoshi
  25. Mewtwo
  26. Donkey Kong

SSBB Speculations

The characters that I personally believe will be introduced and dropped in the latest installment to the Smash franchise.

Suspected Roster Cuts

  • Sheik - She's gone, first and foremost. Sheik is a passing thing, she's a character from Ocarina of Time. Now that they've upgraded Link to his Twilight Princess rendering, it just wouldn't make sense to include Sheik, who hails from a game that is rather outdated within the Zelda franchise. Whether or not Zelda will acquire a new transformation ability or simply get a proper down+B, I can't quite decide, but I hope for the latter.
  • Young Link - Again, just not really as relevant to the Nintendo universe as he once was and being a rather lazy clone of his older self, there's no reason to assume that he won't be dropped from Brawl.
  • Dr. Mario - As much as I love the doctor, I think he's going to clone heaven, too. That said, I don't think that being a clone is criteria for deletion from the Smash roster, though. I don't think we'll lose Ganondorf or Falco, and I'm a little on the fence about Roy.
  • Roy - I think it's more likely that Roy is going to be replaced by a different Fire Emblem character, which I guess counts as a removal, but still fills the empty slot.
  • Mewtwo - We may or may not see this cat again, I'm not sure what to think. I'd rather see Mewtwo again than some crapass new monster from the "Sapphire Version" or whatever gem they've named the latest catalog of 10,000 new creatures. He's certainly more likely to return than SOME pokemon I can think of.
  • Pichu - Uh, yeah.

Suspected Roster Additions

  • Ridley - A villainous figure from the Metroid series. Considering he made an appearance in the SSBM intro video in Smash-proportioned renderings, I'd say he's a likely candidate.
  • Little Mac - From Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, the little boxer who could most certainly belongs among Nintendo's All-stars.

My Lofty Character Wishlist

While above are my actual predictions, this is how it would go down if I was in charge of choosing the new characters. I can dream, can't I?

  • Ridley - Metroid (NES)
  • Little Mac - Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! (NES)
  • Captain Olimar - Pikmin (GCN)
  • Toad - Super Mario Bros. (NES)
  • Slippy Toad - StarFox (SNES)
  • Pico - F-Zero (SNES)
  • Paula - EarthBound (SNES)
  • Pauline - Donkey Kong (NES)
  • Mii - Wii Channels (Wii)
  • Marina Lightyears - Mischief Makers (N64)

There's room for some variation, too. Princess Daisy is one that I wouldn't mind seeing, but I'd sooner have Pauline over her. Pico from F-Zero would be good just to give Captain Falcon some more franchise representation, but I wouldn't be opposed to other notable pilots either. The same applies to Slippy Toad. Slippy tends to be the most loathed of all StarFox characters, but I still think he'd be an excellent brawler. But then again, maybe Star Wolf is a better addition from that series.

Paula from Earthbound is a mighty friendly looking PSI master that I feel would be a good addition, although Poo would be equally welcome in my imaginary roster. The "Mii" character would have to be a baseset of moves that you could apply to your own Mii. If it had a certain degree of customizable moveset templates or something that would be even better. In case you couldn't tell though, these wishes are arranged in the order in which they are most likely to actually occur.

Oh and if you haven't played Mischief Makers but enjoy Smash, go out and play it. Marina Lightyears is so incredibly well suited for the Smash physics engine that you'll surely enjoy the game and will no doubt have a hard time resisting the temptation to dash-dance repeatedly at the end of the boss fights. Mindgames, son!

Incidentally, a number of players are now discovering Gunstar Heroes on Wii virtual console, an old TurboGrafx-16 title from Treasure (the "Mischeif Makers Makers"). For those who enjoy Smash and Gunstar Heroes alike, my recommendation goes double for you!
