Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, just vote if you are a total fanboy of the character. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you can remain anonymous! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
  2. You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comment section. It is recommended that you do not post argumentative, accusative, or any sort of comment with the intention of starting an argument with someone on the opposing side. The Smash Arena is a popularity contest, there's no need to argue with the other side on why your choice is superior, or why they are wrong with their reasoning for picking their choice.
  8. You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it).
  10. Do not put your vote in the Half-Votes section. It is not where anonymous users vote, nor is it acceptable to want your vote to be worth half. It is basically saying "I want to be punished", and you will be treated accordingly.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.

If your vote is not added correctly - that is, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have one hour to fix it. After this time, it may be moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion. In addition, if your votes-to-rulebreaks ratio climbs too high, your votes may count for zero until the ratio drops to an acceptable level.

Flippers aren't as disruptive, and in Melee, the Flipper could be used to get a large amount of points on the first stage in Adventure mode when you fight the Yoshis. 2500 points for each Yoshi KO'd by it, and the KOs stack together for double, triple, etc. KOs. So if you were to KO 5 Yoshis with it, you would get 12,500 points from Flipper KOs, and an additional 15,000 points for Quintuple KO, giving a total of 27,500 points. I don't recall myself being orange, and please refer to rule 7 of the Smash Arena. But regardless, your claim against me is false anyway. You do indeed earn bonus points for clearing Classic or All Star in Brawl based on difficulty, and can even earn an insignificant 10,000 point bonus for clearing with no stock loss. I didn't actually test this yet, but I think characters can only bounce to the side or downwards, even when you hit a bumper from the top. Remember that how good a matchup is is based on the amount of votes it generates from being interesting. The Smash Arena is a popularity contest involving voting, not actual fights, so stop complaining about these votes not being close. If you were to understand the basics of voting, you would see that landslide victories are much more common than close, nearly tied votes. I'll also like to add that Toomai nor the person making the suggestion has no foresight on how the vote will turn out, so demanding "close matchups" to be chosen is demanding something that cannot be done (not to mention that trying to choose "close matchups" only will cause the Smash Arena to lose out on interesting matchups with no real gain in return). So keep this all in mind the next time you complain about a vote not being close.
