Battle of the Dark Sides is the 7th Co-Op Event Match in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Player 1 controls Link, while Player 2 controls Samus. This is the same as the solo event Dark Link Duel, only now Samus is on Link's team and Dark Samus is on Dark Link's team. Each player has 200HP of stamina. You win by dropping both the CPU's stamina to 0HP.
Strategies
Stay far away. Samus and Link both have quite a few projectiles. Use them for an advantage. Try using your ranged grab on the walk-off blast line stage. You can also tag-team one of the dark enemies to quickly drop their stamina. Try to separate the two for the better. Link's and Samus's forward smash, down smash, and long grab range combined with grabs are excellent spacing options when in the fray. Remember to retreat if you feel you are about to be teamed up on, as this often leads to a heavy loss in stamina, though it can also be turned into an excellent chance to counterattack in certain situations. Also remember that knockback is not affected by stamina, unlike the usual Brawl play style, resulting in chances to combo quite easily.
Notes
- This event alludes to Dark Link, whom is a boss/mini-boss in the Legend of Zelda, and Dark Samus, whom is the antagonist in the Metroid Prime series. However, Dark Samus appears very differently (blue, not black) in her original games.
