Bayonetta is an upcoming character and newcomer in Super Smash Bros. 4, as the seventh and final downloadable character. She was announced during the Super Smash Bros. - Final Video Presentation on December 15th, 2015 and will be released sometime in February 2016 alongside Corrin. She is the seventh and final DLC character to be added to the game, as well the sixth third party character to be introduced, following fellow SEGA character Sonic, Capcom's Mega Man and Ryu, Bandai Namco's Pac-Man and Square Enix's Cloud. Bayonetta was elected after the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot, where she was the most voted for character in Europe, and was among the top 5 in North America.

Bayonetta's English voice actor, Hellena Taylor, will reprise her role in Super Smash Bros. 4. It is currently unknown if her Japanese voice actor, Atsuko Tanaka, will reprise the same role in the overseas version.

• Bayonetta's left eye glinting in the intro of her trailer references how she is the Left Eye of the World.
• Bayonetta's interactions with Pit references the fact she kills Angels for a living.
• Bayonetta referring to Palutena as part of an "Endangered Species" references how she, in both of her games, kills off a God as the game's final boss.
• Bayonetta's posing with the Chain Chomp references the creature's utility as a weapon in Bayonetta 2.
• Bayonetta's line "If you need to learn how to talk to a lady, ask your mum", is a reference to Bayonetta director, Hideki Kamiya, who regularly uses the phrase "Ask your mom" to respond to questions he doesn't like on social media.

• A forward kick, which can be pressed again for up to three hits total. Confirmed to be forward aerial.

• Prior to her unveiling, Masahiro Sakurai refers to the final fighter as the "climax", in reference to Bayonetta's climax abilities.
• Bayonetta is the only female third party character in Super Smash Bros. 4.
• Bayonetta is the second character to originate from an M-rated franchise, following Snake.
