Clefairy (ピッピ, Pippi in original Japanese language versions) is a Pokémon that comes out of a Poké Ball. In the Pokémon games, it is most commonly (and almost exclusviely) found on Mount Moon. If it comes into contact with a Moon Stone, it can evolve into Clefable.

Character description

Clefairy is a small, pink, bipedal Pokémon. Its attacks are largely magical-based, making its name, which appears to be derived from the word "fairy", appropriate. Clefairy is the evolution of Cleffa and the pre-evolution of Clefable.

In Super Smash Bros.

Clefairy makes its debut in the Super Smash Bros. series as one of the thirteen Poké Ball Pokémon that appear in the original game. When summoned, Clefairy will use Metronome, an attack that allows it to use the special attack of a random Poké Ball Pokémon. Clefairy's attack will not harm the summoner.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

Clefairy returns in Super Smash Bros. Melee with an altered form of its Metronome attack. The attacks that can be performed using the move are now limited to one of three:

  • Whirlwind: Any character caught in the Whirlwind will take heavy amount of damage, but not enough to KO them.
  • Fire Spin: This attack will force any character caught in it towards the top of the screen.
  • Explosion: This attack is similar to Electrode's attack. Any character caught in the blast radius will take damage.

As in the original, the summoner is immune to damage from its attacks.
