Inui is a smasher and tournament organizer from Ocean Grove, New Jersey currently residing in La Crosse, Wisconsin, who mains Sheik in Melee, Meta Knight in Brawl and Lucina in Smash 4. He is mostly known for having been a doubles play specialist in all Smash titles he has played, as well as hosting tournaments in New Jersey when he resided there.

His first tournament was a Melee tournament in New York in October 2005, where his first tournament loss was against Wes, opening his eyes to the highest levels of play and inspiring him to keep getting better. That same day, a young Hax would also teach Inui about the technical aspects of Melee. He would later rise to national prominence in Melee, with a 7th place finish at EVO East in 2007, beating Wes and numerous other competitors.

In terms of doubles play, he is known for being arguably one of the best doubles players in New Jersey during Brawl's early and middle portions of their lifespan, mostly teaming with Atomsk, Mew2King, Zucco, Malcolm, Snakeee, and Ally. In early 2009, he and Atomsk would place 3rd in Clash of the Titans IV after a very difficult bracket, which included opponents such as ChuDat/Azen, Boss/Korn, and G-regulate/Meep.

Inui is a close friend of Mew2King, and was partially sponsored by Most Valuable Gaming for approximately a year, but left the group due personal reasons, as well as disagreements on the future.

Controversy

Despite being known as a decent player at almost every Smash game he has played, Inui is known as one of the most controversial smashers, mainly due to his conduct with others, and controversial posts on social media and Smashboards in the past. He has been at the helm of many controversial events as well.

Altercation with Ryan Ford at NEC XIII

Inui is known for an incident at Northeast Championship XIII. While heckling during other player's matches, one particularly stood out, which was during one of Ryan Ford's (at the time known as Unknown522) sets. It is rumored that Inui had been harassing Ford and went as far as using a racial slur during the heckling. Ford then placed him in a choke-hold in response. In the aftermath, Ford was banned indefinitely from the Apex tournament series. Inui's punishment remains unknown.

Controversy in Wisconsin and Initial Arrests

In 2016, Inui got himself into a fair amount of controversy within Wisconsin's Smash scene, once again due to social media posts and general behavior at tournaments. He was banned from Wisconsin tournaments in the later part of Summer 2016. Through the better part of August to September of 2016, Inui would participate at tournaments in Minnesota and Iowa. It was later discovered through a news article that Inui had been arrested for selling narcotics and possession of a controlled substance, something he was infamous for bragging about at Wisconsin tournaments. Later in the year he had been arrested once again with warrants in both Minnesota and Iowa. In November of the same year, he was reached out to by Sky and was not heard from since then. In early May 2017 he returned for one tournament and was promptly banned once again when it was discovered that him being in Wisconsin was in violation of his parole and for continuing to have toxic behavior.

Aggravated Battery with a Sword

On May 26th, 2017, Inui was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and disorderly conduct. According to the victim, he was slashed in the thigh with a samurai sword Inui had possession of as he was returning to a former Mobil Oil site where he was believed to be living, due to being homeless at the time. When police apprehended him, Inui stated he was defending himself with the sword due to the other man "attacking him with a big stick". As a result of this, his reputation among the Smash community was stained even further, immediately sparking drama, numerous jokes, and serious discussions on many social media platforms and top players' streams. Due to this, and the legal charges being pressed against him, it is unlikely that he will return to the Smash scene in the near future.

Trivia

  • Inui is known in the Smash community for the inside joke Inui logic, a statement saying "if A beats B and B beats C, A then beats C". An example (in Melee) is such:
