Poké Ball: The Super Smash Bros. Melee version of this item can release one of twenty-nine different results, originating from the First and Second Generations: Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Clefairy, Electrode, Weezing, Chansey, Goldeen, Staryu, Snorlax, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Togepi, Bellossom, Marill, Unown, Wobbuffet, Scizor, and Porygon2, and in rare instances, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Celebi. (Ditto was also planned, but was scrapped from the final release and is now only accessible as a dummied-out result with Action Replay or other hacking methods.) [1]

Poké Ball: The Super Smash Bros. Brawl version of this item can release one of thirty different results, originating from all four Generations of the franchise that were in effect as of Brawl: Meowth, Electrode, Goldeen, Staryu, Snorlax, Chikorita, Togepi, Bellossom, Wobbuffet, Torchic, Gardevoir, Gulpin, Metagross, Latias and Latios (the first instance of a duo of separate Pokémon that can appear out of a single thrown Poké Ball), Piplup, Bonsly, Munchlax, and Weavile, and in rare instances, Moltres, Mew, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Jirachi, Deoxys (in its Attack Forme), and Manaphy.

Poké Ball: The Poké Ball was announced to make its comeback in the Comet Observatory trailer for Super Smash Bros. 4.

Item	Description
	If they are next to the radius of Venusaur's earthquake or near Wobbuffet, CPUs may shield even if they are not in the Pokémon's damage radius. Unusually, they also hold their shields in place, which can result in a self-inflicted shield break (Jigglypuff will SD because of its unique shield jump). This is noticeable with the Wire Frames on the Legendary Pokémon event. Additionally, if a CPU is knocked in the air near Venusaur or goes above it to approach a player, it often immediately air dodges, even if the Venusaur can just be jumped over.
