Don't just remove my trivia like this

Hi,

I think you should probably think twice before just removing trivia from smashers' pages you don't know. This is straight up abuse of your admin powers. I would understand if there was a motivation to clean up the website from minor and unimportant information, but this is difficult to believe after looking at your own user page.

Don't be an idiot.

King Funk (talk) 05:49, 23 May 2018 (EDT)

Best regards, Julius "King Funk" Vissing

Perhaps you should read SW:TRIVIA before you accuse Serpent King of "abusing his power". Irrelevant and uninteresting trivia is generally frowned upon, and some would argue that your trivia falls into this category. You should also read SW:NPA while you're at it, as calling people "idiots" is not conducive to a productive talk page discussion. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 08:45, 23 May 2018 (EDT)
It’s also not ‘abuse of admin powers’ because that would entail doing something that only an admin can possibly do, and editing your page is definitely not an admin-only thing. Also keep in mind that just because the article is about you does not make you exempt from our policies, especially on personal conduct. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 11:08, 23 May 2018 (EDT)

Ok, you want to play this game. Let's do this: "Noteworthiness. Saying something unusual about a character model? A unique fact about a character's move? Add it." "Truth. All trivia must be verified." "Detail. Make sure the piece of trivia is fully explained and not left unclear." "As explained previously, facts that can be part of the body of the article should be a part of it -- not in the trivia section."

The Smash 64 I added about myself is a fun, noteworthy little fact that I did not think needed to belong in the main body of the article. I linked to a source that verifies the claim about the Japanese players too. I also explained it as best as I could for the reader who is unfamiliar with the story.

The languages thing is a fact about myself that does not have anything to do with the game, so I thought trivia would be the right section for it.

Best regards, Julius Vissing

Wow where to start here?

  1. User pages don't have quality standards, Smasher pages do.
  2. Anyone can remove information from articles, so there is no abuse of admin powers.
  3. There is always a drive to remove minor and unimportant information, this was a part of that.
  4. Your trivia point about being fluent in other languages is entirely irrelevant.
  5. Your "seemingly random use of falcon dive" is hardly notable enough to be worth mention.
  6. None of your quotes from the trivia policy are relevant except for the noteworthiness part, which I find to be false entirely for the language point.

Feel free to contact me with more questions though. Serpent SKSig.png King 14:04, 23 May 2018 (EDT)

  1. Even if there are no quality standards for user pages, it is still very difficult to take your administration seriously when anyone looks at yours.
  2. Fair enough.
  3. ~
  4. Depends on your definition of irrelevant. But hey, I guess smashers are not allowed to distinguish themselves in any way or form but their results. I guess we're just robots who play video games, right? Whatever, that's fine.
  5. Good thing you actually noticed a source was linked this time.

On another note, instead of just deleting harmless little elements of Smash history and waging war against PM, maybe you guys could work on making the smasher articles more consistent in writing styles, structure and format? Or maybe revamp those silly "player skill" categories that are borderline meaningless? King Funk (talk) 16:51, 23 May 2018 (EDT)

It's a publicly edited wiki, if you want to improve smasher articles, have a blast. The player skill thing will require consensus though. Serpent SKSig.png King 19:50, 23 May 2018 (EDT)

Your fluency in languages (while impressive, if I may) is irrelevant to a wiki dedicated to a video game series. Nous ne voulons pas voir ces trivia en les articles. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 20:28, 23 May 2018 (EDT)

Sorry; I won't till I can make a new account

Hello and thank you so much for the wonderful warning! I was just about to get banned from Mario Wiki. BTW where are all the cheerful bright people who say "I am sorry, but this is not a social website. Please edit more mainly. Let me know if i can help in anyway!" People MUST be stern though. Thanks for telling me, but I have bad history under this username. If you could somehow ban me than let me have a new account that'll be awesome! Then I will really help out. Thanks for cheering me up!:D User: Mario Kart 7 Rules I'm working on it! (talk) 15:47, 31 May 2018 (EDT)

I will not block you because that would be ineffective, and you are not allowed to create a second account under the terms of SW:SOCK. The most I can do for you is change your username, and details of that can be found there. Serpent SKSig.png King 16:00, 31 May 2018 (EDT)
Thanks. I am really happy you helped me. I will try to edit the wiki from now on! User: Mario Kart 7 Rules I'm working on it! (talk) 16:02, 31 May 2018 (EDT)
Okay so after this edit, I will try to only edit the wiki. So I see you are a bureaucrat? I was told that they change names? So I guess I would want my name changed to BlitzWolf8 please. Time to look for things to edit. Mario Kart 7 Rules (talk) 20:41, 6 June 2018 (EDT)
As per policy, write back here in a few days to confirm, please. Thanks! Serpent SKSig.png King 13:17, 7 June 2018 (EDT)

So how many days do I wait, like a week? Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ I'm just uploading this for him. 20:30, 15 June 2018 (EDT)

I'm not Serp, but there's no rigidly enforced limit. 3 to 7 days should suffice. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 21:29, 15 June 2018 (EDT)

Qyzxf

Hey, you recently blocked Qyzxf for what I can assume is a keymash name. However, this is a semi-active user on other wikis (https://www.mariowiki.com/User:Qyzxf, https://fantendo.wikia.com/wiki/User:Qyzxf) and his name is not spam. He had the intention of editing here and would appreciate being unblocked. Additionally, you prevented account creation for him which is completely unfair if the only reason for his block was a supposedly "unacceptable" username, preventing him from creating a new account with an "acceptable" username. --Skittles (talk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Skittles (talkcontribs) 14:48, 16 June 2018 (EDT)

As it says on the relevant talk page, the user in question may go through the rename process to be unblocked. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Golden 15:55, 16 June 2018 (EDT)
If I may, if that name has some kind of significance to him, maybe we could be a little bit more lenient on this? After all the basis of that part of the naming policy is that random character names are difficult to keep track of, but his name is just 5 characters long and fairly easily recognisable imo. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 16:02, 16 June 2018 (EDT)
Eh...oh what the hell why not. I guess it's not too bad. Serpent SKSig.png King 19:46, 16 June 2018 (EDT)

Work

WOW. I have not seen the wiki get this filled up with work and edits and all this stuff ever. I'm pretty sure this is what happened with Brawl and Smash 4, but still, color me impressed. Anything to catch up on? Skuchi037 (talk) 23:39, 20 June 2018 (EDT)

Rename request

Hello, I'd like to get a rename on the wiki. I made this account long ago and I don't actually go by this, so I'd like my name to be changed to the same one I use everywhere, including the Smashwiki Discord: "Mexi". Thanks in advance. Archrelico (talk) 04:07, 22 June 2018 (EDT)

As per SW:NAMECHANGE, please write back here in a day or two to confirm this. Thanks! Serpent SKSig.png King 11:21, 22 June 2018 (EDT)
I'm back again and would still like my name to be changed to "Mexi". Thanks and have a good day, mate. Archrelico (talk) 05:36, 24 June 2018 (EDT)

About R.O.B.'s colors.

I edited the template since R.O.B. consistently uses his JP colors in most pages on the wiki (see: here, here, here, and not to mention the character templates for all of the games he appeared in sans Ultimate currently). Thought I might as well edit the template to keep consistency. Let me know if I was mistaken in doing so. Nokii (talk) 21:10, 24 June 2018 (EDT)

This has been discussed outside of the wiki, and changes are being implemented to fix it. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 21:20, 24 June 2018 (EDT)

Rename request

Hello, I am requesting that my username be changed to "Voqéo" (if the "é" isn't possible, then "Voqeo" will be okay). I've had this username since when I started here in 2008 and back when my 14 year old self thought that was a cool username to go by, so I figured time for a change. Voqéo is also typically what I've gone by elsewhere for awhile now anyway. Thank you. Unknown the Hedgehog 11:19, 26 June 2018 (EDT)

The "é" should be fine. As per SW:NAMECHANGE write back here in a day or two to confirm the change. Thanks! Serpent SKSig.png King 12:06, 26 June 2018 (EDT)

Second, what edit? You can't ask us to make an edit and then expect us to automatically know what you want to do. Please elaborate. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 04:02, 12 July 2018 (EDT)

I'll Miku You Up! is back

I think the user you blocked, I'll Miku You Up!, is back because there was a user with the address of 58.174.73.168 that posted the same spam on the Rhythm Heaven universe page. Can you do something about that please? SSB4DarkSonicHead.pngSpeed48 10:13, 13 July 2018 (EDT)

Sorry for the trouble.

I'm still somewhat new here (I have not spent a year here yet), and I don't want to keep accidentally make edits that cause problems on this wiki. I just want to say that I do not want to look like a troublemaker or anything. Iridium77 (talk) 15:36, 15 July 2018 (EDT)

Your current sig is 60px wide combined and 30px tall each, meaning it's unacceptable. — For use as my signature icon. Nokiiε (T·C·L) 18:52, 15 July 2018 (EDT)

Image

Sorry, I don't know which image count as professional. But I just want to update ZeRo's look because he obviously looked different than he was in Shine 2016. The image is outdated because it was 2 years ago. But I don't know which ones are the right one, I mainly find pictures on Twitter. Grand Dad.png GRAND DAD Fleenstones!? GRAND DAD!? 01:06, 22 July 2018 (EDT)

I'm not SK, but I am the editor that deemed that picture of Armada as unprofessional. The reason I thought it was unprofessional was because it appeared to be cropped from a YouTube video. In addition to that, the intent of the image (or video frame) wasn't to take a picture. I think that pictures where the clear intention was to take a picture come off as more professional. I don't really mind cropped images, just as long as they don't look bad (weird size, low quality, etc.). Anyways, if you're looking for high quality and professional pictures from Smash Wii U events, I'd recommend looking at Javi Leyvas' website. Javi works with 2GG to take pictures of events. There a lot of player images here that can be cropped to use as wiki pictures. Pokebub (talk) 01:59, 22 July 2018 (EDT)

No, I am talking about ZeRo's picture. I know I made the wrong choice for cropping Armada's picture from YouTube. But anyway, thanks for the website. I will try to find some better photos. Grand Dad.png GRAND DAD Fleenstones!? GRAND DAD!? 02:07, 22 July 2018 (EDT)

I don't I will be able to find ZeRo there, because his gallery seems to be all base on the 2GG Championship. Grand Dad.png GRAND DAD Fleenstones!? GRAND DAD!? 02:09, 22 July 2018 (EDT)

Well, yeah. That's the whole idea of taking pictures of an event. To capture what the event was all about for people who couldn't experience it. Anyways, the ZeRo pictures are towards the end on page 5 and 6. Pokebub (talk) 02:12, 22 July 2018 (EDT)

Hi, I've talked to Aidanzapunk about the SSBB and SSBM templates, both of which I cannot edit (you can see from his talk page: Aidanzapunk). And have listed some redundant mediawiki titles that can be deleted as they are not needed. Conker the Squirrel (talk) 07:47, 1 August 2018 (EDT)

So, I need help with something

I decided to make a smasher page for the Japanese Sonic main RYO, who has a tag similar to Ryo the Ike main. How exactly do I make it so that when I search for RYO, not Ryo, I don't only get results for Ryo. I feel stuck there. Iridium77 (talk) 18:32, 10 August 2018 (EDT)

Search is case-insensitive. However, pages are not, so if we make a redirect to RYO (which I've done) it'll find the page first. It works now. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Chilled 18:37, 10 August 2018 (EDT)

Where was the selection of Smash Bros. Ultimate discussed and approved? The only thing I can find is a nomination on SW:FA that was opposed nearly universally. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 20:58, 12 August 2018 (EDT)

I was not aware of this discussion but it is worth pointing out that it occurred before we knew anything about anything, as opposed to now where we mostly know what's what at this point. As SW:FA says, we are currently not using the voting system, so I changed it on a whim to the article that made the most sense. Serpent SKSig.png King 21:03, 12 August 2018 (EDT)

About the Sumabato page I added.

I just added a complete page on the Sumabato series, looking at how it was in the wanted section, but I see another page about it too, although it is incomplete. Did I do something wrong? Iridium77 (talk) 15:15, 18 August 2018 (EDT)

What page is incomplete? Serpent SKSig.png King 15:18, 18 August 2018 (EDT)

When I search for "Sumabato", I get two results: the tournament series page I made, and one that also lists Sumabato results, but doesn't have as much as mine, although I just realized I missed the qualifiers. I feel like I made a mistake, so I just wanted to clear this up. Iridium77 (talk) 15:44, 18 August 2018 (EDT)
