Event match
Event Matches are battle scenarios with a broad range of various predetermined conditions; such as characters, objectives, items, or many others. This mode first appeared in Melee, with 51 events being available. In Brawl, there are 41 single-player events and 21 co-op events (a new feature), each with three difficulty levels.
Most Melee events allow you to choose any character (that's 30 set fighter events that allow you to choose any character), with relatively few being pre-determined (that's 21 pre determined events) ; while this is reversed in Brawl, as every battle (that's 34 events and 19 co-op events that are reversed) except the few All-Star Matches and final events have set fighters (that's 7 events that have set fighters that allow you to choose any character and 2 of the Co-Op events allow you to pick any character).
