Sure, if you need help with something, ask me, but if it is something about your userpage, be sure to contribute constructively to other areas of the Wiki. Also, be sure to put any new conversations on a talk page under a new header and respond to comments on your talk page there instead of on the other user's talk page. And yes, I'm a fan of the Pokemon games, but any discussion on it on our talk pages would be inappropriate. Such conversations can take place on the IRC channel. Okay this page, User:Lugiagirl249, is a user page but it's been placed in the Smasher and Female Smasher categories. To my knowledge, user pages don't belong in those categories. I researched the person on the rest of the internet, and they don't seem notable enough to qualify for their own smasher article (two small tournaments attended, mediocre placements, no matches recorded). Anyway I can't edit user pages, so it would be cool if you could remove the page from those categories. Thanks Shark (talk) 04:45, 10 October 2010 (EDT)

If you actually properly tested it instead of just assuming it's an OHKO, you will see that it fails to KO at 0% from the center of Final Destination, thus not fulfilling the objective criteria we have set for an attack to be an OHKO. Don't put assumptions into the Wiki's articles. Also, you should be the one explaining how it's an OHKO, not me explaining why it isn't, considering that it has already been established in the past that it is not an OHKO. Omega TyrantTyranitarMS.png 01:15, 4 November 2010 (EDT)
sorry, kinda looked it up a bit on G&W's SSBB page, and i thought it meant that it was only an OHKO if it wasn't Stale at all.Vincent TranKirby-1.png 01:19, 4 November 2010 (EDT)
If I recall correctly, it says it's nearly an OHKO when not stale, unless someone changed it, in which case it's no longer correct. One thing I'll like to remind you, that information in the Wiki's articles, while usually correct, isn't always, which is why you should use your own knowledge when editing instead of basing it off of information in existing articles. While ranting in our forums isn't necessarily wrong, rant forums here will generally be ignored or met with hostility, especially when the OP of the forum is not articulated well, thus really doing you no good ranting in them. He is currently busy. Use this and just fill in the blanks.-Ivy73002MS.png 15:20, 27 November 2010 (EST)
I don't think that's what the question meant; I think it was more of a "how did you program the Smasher namespace itself into the wiki". Which I don't know the answer to, as that was a very long time ago and I don't think any of our current members were around at the time. Toomai Glittershine Data Node 15:22, 27 November 2010 (EST)

Unbanned me from IRC

You really need to get over your anger over me thinking that Tiers are unexistant. I wasn't arguing over them I was just making a statement about the smash arena and you guys took it as an offense to your stupid outdated list of the original smash bros. game. Doc King (talk) 14:00, 12 December 2010 (EST)

For those who weren't there. And are you going to remain oblivious? He said he was tired of you and you assume it's over the tier list. Bothering him won't do anything but make the situation worse.--MegaTron1XD:p 14:04, 12 December 2010 (EST)
You guys acted like I said that the arena is based on the Tier list when I really just said that Pikachu is winning because of the list (which is true). And then you guys were getting at me on how its not Tier based when I already know that. And then you guys were forcing me to believe in the Tier list when I don't want to. Now that is just acting like a bunch of queer scrubs imo. Doc King (talk) 14:20, 12 December 2010 (EST)
And if OT was getting sick of me then why didn't he just ignore me or something. You don't have to get rid of me from talking to my friends. Doc King (talk) 14:21, 12 December 2010 (EST)
Pointless. You didn't get the reason why he blocked you. Stop.--MegaTron1XD:p 14:27, 12 December 2010 (EST)
I won't, no matter how annoyed you get, your gonna have to deal with it. How about you give me some reasons he blocked me instead of just saying he did it the end. Doc King (talk) 15:54, 12 December 2010 (EST)
Reason: Why bother, you'll just try to argue about it. You don't deal with me, I won't deal with you. I have chat recorded on how people do not like you. So yeah, I have to deal with it? Everyone has to. Better for the community who uses it.--MegaTron1XD:p 15:56, 12 December 2010 (EST)

I'm going to try to sum up what happened. Doc, you said that Pikachu was only winning in the SA because of his tier position. OT and Mega then countered it by how that isn't the only reason. After a while of that, Doc stated that "tiers are pointless". OT and Mega pointed out the hypocracy because Doc always makes up his own tier list. Doc responded with a completely irrelevent statement about how OT once said how Wolf should be higher. Because of his poor argument, hypocracy over tiers, and refusal to listen, OT got fed up with Doc and banned him from the IRC. Is this correct? Mr. Anon (talk) 16:51, 12 December 2010 (EST)

To Doc King: In order to be unbanned from the IRC, you have to do four things:

  1. Stop talking about tiers all the time (preferably, forever). Bringing them up leads to arguments that 99% of the wiki doesn't want to have.
  2. Don't be stupid. Things like "you guys just like tiers a lot" are incredibly stupid things to say in many ways (offtopic, unfounded, etc) and will do nothing to help you, ever.
  3. Quit trying to get the last word. If you can't counter someone's statement then don't bring up something irrelevant and pointless. If you think that bringing up that tiers "dont matter on how to win" will help you in your "I think the tier list is influencing Smash Arena" argument then that's another problem.
  4. Never use any phrase of the form "please unbanned me" again. If you do, I will take it as "I think punishment is a joke" and act accordingly. Toomai Glittershine Data Node 17:09, 12 December 2010 (EST)

@Anon: That's a decent summary, but the hypocrisy of Doc doesn't come from the fact that he makes tier lists on various things, but that he has, numerous times in the past, argued the positions of characters on the tier lists, and openly arguing how one character should be higher than the other (i.e. who can forget his rants on how Captain Falcon is superior to Peach, or how Mario should be considered a high tier character?). The fact that he has also went from arguing this stuff, to saying "TR4Q!", back to arguing tier positions again, to again complaining how tiers are evil is where the frustration from this comes from. I can't count how many times he has flipped his position on tiers and complain about something about them to everyone else.

@Doc: Listen to what Toomai says. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 00:35, 13 December 2010 (EST)

Knockback scaling

Can you please explain to me what knockback scaling is? I know what base knockback is--the initial knockback. I do not understand knockback scaling, including low and high knockback scaling. Chimanruler15 (talk) 22:24, 22 December 2010 (EST)

First, you put ~~~~ after your comment, not before it.
Knockback scaling is a measure of how fast the knockback of a move increases with damage. In other words, it's how much stronger the attack gets as the target's damage goes up. If two moves have the same base knockback, then whichever one has the higher knockback scaling will be more powerful at higher damages. Toomai Glittershine ??? 22:59, 22 December 2010 (EST)
The lowest possible knockback scaling is 0- that is, set knockback. Examples of attacks with very high knockback scaling include Ness' B-Throw. Mr. Anon (talk) 23:02, 22 December 2010 (EST)
To answer, knockback scaling is the amount the knockback increases with each percentage point (in post calculation data). As such, attacks with higher knockback scaling will get stronger faster, and if an attack has higher knockback scaling than another attack, the attack with higher knockback scaling will eventually exceed the other attack in the amount of knockback produced. Generally, attacks that are high knockback scaling based are more reliable finishers than those that are high base knockback based, as they are less affected by DI and momentum cancelling. As for examples of notable attacks with low base knockback, but high knockback scaling, there's the aforementioned b-throw of Ness, Samus' dair, Luigi's f-smash (more so in Brawl), and Captain Falcon's f-smash (more so in Melee). Ganondorf's dair is also notable, as even though it does have good base knockback, it has extremely high knockback scaling, which makes it so deadly on even grounded opponents at mid-high percentages. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 23:13, 22 December 2010 (EST)

Oh, I get it! Thanks! So, knockback scaling is how much the knockback increases as the damage goes up. Ness's d-air has high base knockback, meaning that it deals high initial knockback, but it has low knockback scaling, too, meaning that it can not KO at early percentages because the knockback increases slightly. Thanks, everyone! Chimanruler15 (talk) 15:01, 23 December 2010 (EST)

Zero Suit Samus's Down Air

Doesn't it sends opponents diagonally downward instead of straight down? Chimanruler15 (talk) 14:58, 24 December 2010 (EST)

It has an angle of 275 (five degrees away from straight down). It's still a meteor smash either way, if that's what you're asking; meteor smashes don't have to be perfectly straight down. Toomai Glittershine ??? 15:17, 24 December 2010 (EST)
Per Toomai. In Brawl, meteor smashes can send opponents on diagonal downward trajectories, which I note those that do on my meteor smash chart. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 17:38, 24 December 2010 (EST)

Oh, ok. I get it. I was wondering why the move did that to opponents. Thanks, everyone. Chimanruler15 (talk) 23:03, 24 December 2010 (EST)

Well, my question was what you needed help with for archiving and not what you were using it for. But I'll tell you how to archive in my words. First you make a page titled "User talk:Lionheartfan122/Archive X" (X being the archive number. Then you take the copy the text you're archiving from your talk page, and paste it in your archive. For the final step, remove the archived text from your talk page, and provide a link from your talk page to your archive. And that's all. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 00:28, 3 January 2011 (EST)

Measuring Base Knockback and Knockback Scaling for all moves (including meteor smashes)

How do you measure Base Knockback and Knockback Scaling, especially for the meteor smashes in SSBM and SSBB? I saw that you made a chart on SSBB meteor smashes, and I also wanted to know how you made it, including all measurements. If it is not too much trouble, can you please answer my questions in this post? Chimanruler15 (talk) 00:35, 6 January 2011 (EST)

Um, I mentioned earlier how to measure them in Brawl, and I don't know how to do so in Melee. Melee's equivalent of maximum launch and launcher speed may be based on entirely different numbers. As besides the numbers there being of a much smaller scale (often being in the low hundreds), their accuracy was questionable as well, since a weak throw at low percentages often produced a higher number than a finisher did at high percentages.
Anyway, if you're still having trouble understanding base knockback and knockback scaling, just forget about them and try focusing on other areas of the Wiki to work on. The Wiki doesn't have an immediate need for them, and it would be more ideal for you to stay in your area of expertise. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 06:26, 6 January 2011 (EST)

That block of KirbytheAmazing

When I see the page that user made, I don't see someone who's trying to vandalise, I see someone who's a new user and doesn't yet understand how things work. Even then, a block of a week for a (minor) first offense is too strong. If you have some sort of other information, I'd like to hear it, but otherwise this looks like a pretty severe case of biting a newcomer. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Bold 11:05, 12 January 2011 (EST)

I'm not sure if this was a legit new user. Considering the rash of spamming lately (from IPs and accounts), the popularity of "Hi, I'm a new user" among vandals, the style in which the page in question was written (using ALL CAPS at one part), and the fact the account was created at 4:50 and by the time I blocked at 10:13 (a span of five hours and a half), no other edit by this account was made. I suspect this to be a vandal account, and the reason I didn't permaban was because of the possibility my suspicions were wrong. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 11:29, 12 January 2011 (EST)
I'm pretty sure none of the "hi there" vandals made accounts, and they had a different style of vandalising (talking in Russian and/or putting their spam on forums or unused talk pages) than this new user. Also, you can't use time to assume anything; 04:50 here is 09:50 or 10:50 in Europe and 18:50 in Japan. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Golden 11:36, 12 January 2011 (EST)
The time of when the account was made in other time zones is irrelevant. It's the span between the time the account was made and the time when it was blocked, which is five and a half hours regardless of where you live, and this account made no other edits in that sizable amount of time. If this was a legit new user, surely they would have made an edit somewhere else on the Wiki. But no, they created a page that is highly suspicious looking of being from a vandal and edited nothing else. The style of these type of pages aren't always in a foreign language, and they have been put in the mainspace before. True, I can't recall a registered user doing this, but that in no way rules out a vandal from making an account to use the "I'm a new user" vandalism. Plus, can you actually recall a legit new user who actually created a new page in the mainspace or replaced the content of a mainspace article with "Hi, I'm a new user" before?
Also, when I look at the page, the user in question isn't simply announcing being a new user and perhaps asking for help. They are announcing they are new, and essentially screaming for attention. Will an unaware new user actually create an article they are unlikely to know is wrong and scream for attention while doing it? There's no evidence to show this is a legit new user and the circumstances around this lead me to believe it's a vandal account. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 12:01, 12 January 2011 (EST)

Since I don't think this argument will ever be resolved without one of us having some sort of lobotomy, I'm going to drop it. However, I will end by saying I think the block goes against SW:AGF and SW:BLOCK, which is why I brought it up in the first place. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Eggster 12:33, 12 January 2011 (EST)

Perhaps you may see me as not assuming good faith, but assuming good faith on a more convincing "I'm a new user" in the past didn't turn out well, and I see little to nothing to suggest this is an actual new user. My point is that there is so much pointing to this as a vandal rather than a new user, and these circumstances have a greater significance to me to judge than to blindly assume good faith because the user claims to be new. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 12:42, 12 January 2011 (EST)
