Brood (ブルード) Smasher from Tokyo, Kantō. Beginning his tournament career in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as an Olimar player, he was first recognized globally for his international debut at Apex 2010, where he defeated many of North America's best players to place 2nd. This remains the best Olimar major performances in Brawl, and alongside many other successful performances, including several top 8 major finishes in Japan, Brood is considered one of the greatest Brawl Olimar players of all time.
Following Super Smash Bros. for Wii U's release, Brood swapped to playing Duck Hunt. Similar to Brawl, he infrequently traveled outside of Japan during this time, and though he found great success in Japan, such as placing 9th at Umebura Niconico Qualifier and having a few top 8 performances at Umebura events, his results were, overall, overshadowed by Raito. Nevertheless, Brood was still able to establish himself as one of the greatest Smash 4 Duck Hunt players of all time, and was best known for defeating ZeRo at GENESIS 4. Though he was never ranked on the PGR, Brood was recognized by the alternative ranking OrionRank, who placed him 98th on their 2017 list.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Brood was initially a Richter player before switching to Piranha Plant upon the character's release. With Piranha Plant, he is best known for his run to 2nd at Umebura SP 4, where he took out many of Japan's best players at that time, including Shuton, Kameme, and Gackt, along the way. This performance remained the only top 8 major finish from a Piranha Plant player until Tas's run at Sumabato SP 50 5 years later, and to this day is still considered the greatest major performance from a Piranha Plant player. Brood eventually swapped to Banjo & Kazooie in the latter half of 2019, but returned to Piranha Plant in the post-pandemic metagame, and though he never came close to his performance at Umebura SP 4, he is still considered the greatest Piranha Plant player of all time.
