So apparently

...when you put temporary sysop protection on the tier list page, once it expired, the page went to being completely unprotected and nobody noticed. Just letting you know so neither of us make that mistake again. Toomai Glittershine ??? Da Bomb 11:21, 23 March 2015 (EDT)

I don't know why I assumed it would just default back to the previous level. Still though, I guess it's good that we are made aware. Miles (talk) 11:29, 23 March 2015 (EDT)

Well...

Their's also Hyeden Walch as Viridi. Also I never said that the Koopalings were supposed to be playable, I just said that they should be playable due to differences with Bowser Jr. Andrew Rannels was the voice of Nightmare and rumors before he was put in said that he would reprise his role, but I compared the versions and they're both the same. And Riki, okay that's not notable enough. But what about the Metal Sonic Skin Leak, that was very well known, so should I add that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nintenzilla (talkcontribs) (multiple edits)

In general: if you aren't sure if a piece of trivia is notable enough, ask on a talk page first. Miles (talk) 17:24, 26 March 2015 (EDT)

Did you know

There will be a Nintendo Direct tomorrow. (Add sig here)

  1. That may be a rumor. We don't know. The fact that it's supposedly for April 1st is kinda suspicious...

If there weren't a Direct today with a good chance of containing actual factual shit we should be reporting accurately, I'd feel differently. As it stands, though, I think we should keep it to things that aren't actual articles. I know it's a buzzkill, but it's also less work to clean up afterwards since we won't have joke edits and real updates interspersed. Miles (talk) 00:25, 1 April 2015 (EDT)
The news section is intact, and we can fix all the jokes before the Direct begins (at 6pm EDT, so stuff can stick around most of the day). Even then, people aren't really saying "hey this got revealed today". Toomai Glittershine ??? The Jiggy 00:27, 1 April 2015 (EDT)
If you take personal responsibility for cleaning up every single joke edit outside the userspace before then, fine. Miles of Buzzkill will just stay off the site until then. (meanie) Miles (talk) 00:29, 1 April 2015 (EDT)

Of course I'll help Serpent King (talk) 00:35, 1 April 2015 (EDT)

On one hand, it's Miles being Miles. On the other hand, sturgeon law applies, and giving free reign of the mainspace to the entire userbase is leading to articles mostly being filled with unfunny shit and memes just thrown around without any actual joke (I'm looking at you Requiem of Ice), that will only become worse as the day goes on, which I think overall makes the wiki reflects as "le reddit meme" and not as being actually clever with its April Fools, while also making it more frustrating for legitimate readers. I was going to do some cleanup of such while keeping the more decent stuff, but then I realised what was the point, when more shit is going to come, and you'll get edit wars over what's "funny" and what isn't with no clear resolution to such.

Yeaaahhhh....I'm with Miles on this one on keeping the April Fools out of the mainspace except for a few admin-handled articles relevant to the main (and actually good) joke. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 04:44, 1 April 2015 (EDT)

Okay I will admit things have gotten a bit out of hand. Once this is over, I will draft more stringent rules for mainspace joking, as opposed to just letting anyone do anything. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Quintonic 12:44, 1 April 2015 (EDT)

Just saying

According to SW:ADMIN, "They are usually entrusted to mediate user disputes, arbitrate users, and interpret policy during times of argument." As far as I can tell, you usually do none of this. You often begin user disputes by presenting your personal opinion as fact, and although you do arbitrate it is often only in situations where it's you vs. the people or otherwise when you're involved (and an arbitrator should always be a third-party chosen by both sides of the argument), and you never present the policy when involved in such arguments, instead resorting to your own often inaccurate opinions and presenting them as fact. Although this entire message is fueled by your removal of the DLC section, it happens regularly, which can be proven if you scroll through your archives and see all of the messages from users AND OTHER ADMINS requesting that you calm down, stop getting involved, or restore your sense of humor.

Now excuse me as I run and hide from the replies which will likely include non-thought-through excuses, threats of punishment, people who need not even be reading this getting involved for no reason, etc. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 18:07, 3 April 2015 (EDT)

In the discussion that prompted this message of yours, you also presented your opinion as fact. Therefore the rest of your complaint is invalid. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Frivolous 18:11, 3 April 2015 (EDT)
I presented very little as fact. The only thing that isn't necessarily fact that I presented as fact was that there is a large difference between starters/unlockables and DLC, whereas Miles entire argument was based on his opinion. Not to mention that isn't the only thing I complained about here, nor why I left the message. I didn't tell him this so he'd shut up and let me do what I want, I told him this so that he could become a better admin and make this Wiki a better place. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. About that cleanup, I only put it there because I was cutting it all down at the moment, and I followed up with that, making the notice unnecessary. Just wanted to let you know that it's all been taken care of. Kid_X (talk) 00:57, 5 April 2015 (EDT)

Ok dude, I understand where you are coming from about the cleanup warnings on some of the attribute sections, but just check the Brawl attribute pages; they are about twice as long as these already-short ones, so if those are acceptable, these much tinier ones should also be. Just something for you to consider. Kid_X (talk) 01:16, 5 April 2015 (EDT)

There's a lot of bloat on the Character (SSB_) pages, so I'll work on tagging those too over time. Miles (talk) 01:19, 5 April 2015 (EDT)

All of the Melee debug pages? I would think we'd want to implement them all at once. Miles (talk) 21:27, 21 April 2015 (EDT)
You mean my sound test page? I guess we could, but know that that is a very slow process. Serpent King (talk) 18:12, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
Your call. The only other thing I was going to say was perhaps we should implement something for "Debug menu (SSB)" at the same time, but I don't know how much that matters. Miles (talk) 20:17, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
We can leave it down for a little while longer, just to see what happens. As for the SSB debug menu, I can get into it, but know that as of right now, I know nothing about it. Serpent King (talk) 00:08, 23 April 2015 (EDT)

Lucas Smash 4 Page

I have recently made an edit to the Lucas (SSB4) page. The image of Lucas wasn't completely accurate, as it had an orange background, and it looked like this: File:Lucas SSB4.jpg I wanted to help by putting a better image in its place. Soon, I did, and it looked like this: File:LucasSSB4.png So, I took off the old image and put up the new one. Shortly afterwards, you undid the edit. Why? -Jamescamden05 (talkcontribs) 15:30, 11 April 2015

As I've repeatedly stated: show me a Nintendo-official source that uses a transparent render of that quality, otherwise we are not using it. We don't use fan-edited images or renders; see SW:IMAGE. Also, please sign talk page posts with ~~~~. Miles (talk) 15:36, 11 April 2015 (EDT)

Hello, it's me again. I have come to inform you that the image that I had used is not fan-art. I had found this image on the wiki. Please respond as quickly as possible. -Jamescamden05 (talkcontribs) 16:52, 11 April 2015

It was uploaded previously and rejected previously for the same reason I've already explained. Miles (talk) 16:56, 11 April 2015 (EDT)

Shiny Mewtwo

In your edit reason you said you posted a comparison but it's not there. Regardless, concensus is that the color is close enough that it's clear it represents or 'resembles' the Shiny. No one is saying its actually identical to the Shiny. There are several colors on the page that are a lot more of a stretch than pointing out the similarity between light green and blueish light green. They're even more similar than the yellow to the 'older shiny' and pink to Mew. There's no reason to start an edit war or threaten to ban users over this. Allsalts (talk) 02:02, 17 April 2015 (EDT)

I posted a text color comparison, and consensus is irrelevant if it's in blatant contradiction to the facts. Miles (talk) 02:18, 17 April 2015 (EDT)

Miles, just except that it's similar, no need to be so stubborn! Nintenzilla 11:53, 17 April 2015 (EDT)

In fact, please tell me why you're being so stubborn and sensitive about this, I would really love too know thank you! Nintenzilla 11:54, 17 April 2015 (EDT)

It's not a question of being stubborn. It's a question of accuracy. Miles (talk) 12:54, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
In all honesty, I'm going to have to side with Miles on this one. Both Mewtwo's shiny sprite and Mewtwo's green alt in Melee are much greener than Mewtwo's light blue alt in Smash 4. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 12:59, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
Well yes that is true, but it's the closest thing to Mewtwo's shiny. You see, I put down that it was similar to Mewtwo's shiny, but lighter in color, since that was true, why was it removed? Nintenzilla 13:17, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
Because it's not. Shiny Mewtwo isn't blue; that said, saying the alt in question "resembles" his shiny form is kinda stretching the truth. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 13:20, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
Shiny Mewtwo and the alt are both green. The alt is a blueish green, but is still primarily green. It is not primarily blue. Take a color test and check the RGB levels. Green is the highest. Blueish green, and light green as similar colors. Allsalts (talk) 16:58, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
Let me just say, their are much more alt descriptions that are "Stretching" it! Nintenzilla 13:21, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
I'd like to see an example of this, because I do not believe that is the case for a single one. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 13:23, 17 April 2015 (EDT)

Oh really? Alternate costumes Nintenzilla (talk)14:11, 17 April 2015 (EDT)

That's close, but that belongs there because, aside from a few color tone changes, that's basically a shiny Greninja. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 15:42, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
Wow seriously? I find it unbelievable that you accept Black skin, yellow under belly, and orange tongue as a stand in for Black skin, black underbelly and red tongue. But you don't accept blueish green as a stand in for green. Allsalts (talk) 16:58, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
I agree that makes absolutely, positively, no sense! Nintenzilla (talk) 17:04, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
Black and black is a lot more similar than light green and teal. That's common sense. Miles (talk) 17:31, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
Black+Yellow+Orange = Black+Black+Red. White+Teal =/= White+Green? Your argument makes no sense. I can't understand it at all.
Also if you cite Melee as being closer to the shiny may i remind you, the melee alt had green tinged skin. No Mewtwo Shiny in Pokemon has ever had greenish skin, only the tail. Allsalts (talk) 17:38, 17 April 2015 (EDT)
That's it!!!! This is nonsense, "Common sense" my ass! Excuse my language their I was just really annoyed. Obviously people have different perception, Greninja's alt is not even close to his shiny, in fact his purple is closer. What I'm just trying to say is that we should just say it's similar, we don't have to say it's identical, just similar! Because people could get confused. Is that fine?

Uh...

I'd just like to point this out. ...I think I'll let you handle this one. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 15:08, 20 April 2015 (EDT)

What is there to handle? I pointed out that his edit was factually inaccurate, and provided proof. He repeatedly made the same claim without justification. I undid it and provided a warning of what would happen if he continued edit warring on the subject. He continued edit warring. I followed through on said warning. Whether he comes back or not is his choice. Miles (talk) 15:15, 20 April 2015 (EDT)
You make a valid point, I won't deny that, but...I kinda feel bad for him. People compare me to a certain speedy blue hedgehog (Trust me, this is relevant), and one of the reasons is that both Sonic and I can't pass up someone in need of help. I'm just saying. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 15:18, 20 April 2015 (EDT)
I made the point abundantly clear. It is saddening to lose an editor, but he was breaking wiki rules and ignoring what was presented to him. Miles (talk) 16:00, 20 April 2015 (EDT)

What would you think?

So what would you think of another Kirby character, and what do you think the mystery slot on the roster is?Nintenzilla (talk)09:27, 22 April 2015 (EDT)

While I personally would enjoy Bandana Waddle Dee, for example, I've already explained why there's no evidence in the current data for another Kirby character. Miles (talk) 12:25, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
While their is no true evidence it's still heavily implied we're getting Bandana Dee. I'm not saying it's absolutly confirmed, I'm just saying it makes perfect sense. Think about it! The Dream Land stage is based off of his debut game, Kirby Super Star, he's one of Sakurai's character, Bandana Dee (Or for that matter Waddle Dee) has no trophy, he'd be fun with his spear, he'd be perfect! As for the other placeholder slot, it's too early to call for that, (I'd say K. Rool or Inkling) but I just care about the Dee. Here's my pridiction list for DLC: Veterans: Mewtwo, Lucas, Roy: Newcomers: Ryu, Bandana Dee, ? (Maybe K. Rool, Dixie or Inkling?) So what do think. Not to shabby right?Nintenzilla (talk) 12:34, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
I don't think "implied" is true either. I mean, sure, there's been certain cases where Sakurai has treated his characters well, but I think you're overthinking this just a little. All the picture you provided says that a match happened between the newest DLC, two Kirby characters, and the fastest thing alive. That's basically it. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 13:21, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
Right now the evidence says Roy, Ryu, and Dream Land 64. Anything else is 100% guesswork. Miles (talk) 13:46, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
To be fair, assuming Dream Land 64 is also a guess, I mean, look at Jungle Japes, it doesn't have any music from its original appearance, so it's possible that the Kirby stage may just be using those songs and is actually a brand new stage, nothing is certain. Laikue (talk | contribs) 17:14, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
But what do you think about my predictions?www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hzn1dxtTae0 Also the video explains alot of things!Nintenzilla (talk) 14:08, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
I'm just saying, if a Kirby stage is coming it's not out of the possibility to have a character!Nintenzilla (talk) 14:10, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
It's certainly possible, but character relevance doesn't always equate to playability (see: Dixie Kong) and trophies don't necessarily mean anything (see: Mewtwo). That video has some seriously flawed logic. Miles (talk) 14:40, 22 April 2015 (EDT)

Just a quick question...

Hello Miles, I've been gaining interest in adding trivia and technical data of the moves in Smash 4, but I've decided to ask this since you've recently removed some trivia I added. Regarding the Little Mac Side-B trivia before, where should details like that belong? Should they be added to the character page such as Villager's meme being a psycho killer or should it not be added at all? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Archrelico (talkcontribs) 02:34, 26 April 2015 (EDT)

It shouldn't be added at all, and frankly the Villager meme should be removed too. (Also, please sign your comments with ~~~~) Miles (talk) 02:34, 26 April 2015 (EDT)

So, as this is the first wiki I have ever worked on, I want to kind of see from other people how I am doing. Is there anything that I need to improve upon? Am I doing things by the book enough? I just want to be sure that I am actually being helpful and not screwing things up. As you and Toomai are the two most active admins, I figured I would ask you guys. Thanks. Serpent King (talk) 23:47, 7 May 2015 (EDT)

You stalking me?

Ok, this doesn't really count as "stalking", but I've noticed that you notice my edits (and undo some that you believe are "wrong" by your books) in an alarmingly short amount of time. It's almost like you constantly loom over my edit history page. Do not say that you just happen to come across a page that I recently edited, cuz there is no way that can happen an X amount of times. Besides, that "Super Fighting Robot" thing was just a joke. I was gonna undo that later. Have you even heard the theme song?

Herson (talk) 02:06, 10 May 2015 (EDT)Herson

I check recent changes and do essentially a spot-check on some recent edits to assess their quality, and revert ones that seem questionable or poor. It's nothing personal. And in general, the mainspace is not for jokes. Miles (talk) 08:38, 10 May 2015 (EDT)

NeoGaf

Might I ask why you consider NeoGaf a "dubious source"? (I'm not saying it should be kept, I'm just curious.) Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 13:21, 11 May 2015 (EDT)

Essentially, digging around yields that every source of these claims goes back to one forum post citing a Famitsu article that nobody can provide images of. This makes it highly dubious in quality, especially in comparison to statements Sakurai made himself on the 64 and Melee websites. Miles (talk) 13:22, 11 May 2015 (EDT)

Not really, may be because of my browser. Anyone else think that wiki's a bit of an eyesore? Nintenzilla (talk) 14:58, 12 May 2015 (EDT)
Needs a bit of fixing, don't you think? Nintenzilla (talk) 17:23, 12 May 2015 (EDT)

(Reset indent) Yes, it's an eyesore, but because it was created within the NIWA, it is automatically higher up than a Wikia page. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 17:23, 12 May 2015 (EDT)

Still, maybe with some repairs it could be better. Nah, it'd take waaaaaay too long to get everything straight. It's possible but time consuming! Nintenzilla (talk) 17:36, 12 May 2015 (EDT)
One observation I just made is that even the Stafy and Tetris Wikis have more content then the Kirby one. Irony anyone? Nintenzilla (talk) 17:44, 12 May 2015 (EDT)

Inklings

I think they should have their own article, nuff said. Nintenzilla (talk) 13:09, 13 May 2015 (EDT)

Not every character with a Mii Fighter costume has a page, right? I don't see why unless they get confirmed as a fighter (which I do really want) ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 13:29, 13 May 2015 (EDT)
I've previously explained that the reason we don't need an Inkling page is because at the moment, the costume is the only representation of them in Smash whatsoever. Contrast that to Dunban, X, or Majora's Mask, which have other roles such as assist character, Smash Tour item, stage, trophy, etc. Miles (talk) 13:33, 13 May 2015 (EDT)

Spam Users

I've noticed some users have been acting, weird, the things that they're doing are 1. Spreading false information, 2. Not listening to talk page warnings, 3. Uploading awful images. So with that in mind, is it possible we may have a spam problem? Nintenzilla (talk) 12:09, 14 May 2015 (EDT)

This is a wiki. There will always be vandals and spammers. Serpent King (talk) 12:12, 14 May 2015 (EDT)
That may be true, but we might want to do something to avoid it. Nintenzilla (talk) 12:17, 14 May 2015 (EDT)
The user in question was given multiple warnings, and temporarily blocked when he failed to improve his behavior. That's all there is to do sometimes. Miles (talk) 12:18, 14 May 2015 (EDT)
Okay, that makes sense. Nintenzilla (talk) 12:20, 14 May 2015 (EDT)

Is this something that actually matters?

Does Classic Mode and its game-specific counterparts really need renamed to "Classic mode"? Does it really matter? Idk, it just seems to me that there are much bigger fish to fry. Additionally, no one is saying anything about it in discussion. Serpent King (talk) 13:02, 14 May 2015 (EDT)

Smash 4 Images

Hello from the Super Mario Wiki! I'm a user who regularly makes edits there (under the name Time Turner), and the wiki has plenty of articles on various Smash 4 stuff, like items, moves, stages, etc. I've been uploading images taken by me on these topics and they're all pretty high-quality, if I do say so myself. I haven't had the chance to examine every page to see which ones needed images, but if it's all right, I'd be perfectly comfortable with grabbing images from one wiki to another, or even other people doing it so long as they give me credit. However, the policies and how-to on uploading images are quite different between this wiki and the Mario Wiki, such as what license and what categories to use. I'm also not sure if you guys would be comfortable with some low-edit user uploading or reuploading batches of images (such as swapping this Bombchu image for this one). Whenever you can, get back to me on how you'd like to proceed. Thank you very much! Reversinator (talk)

It's really a case-by-case basis. The specific comparison you made, the Bombchu image, would indeed by an improvement. However, there are a couple things to keep in mind before doing any bulk image work. For starters, you should avoid overwriting any images off of the official site, which we want to keep around. On top of that, it would be a good idea to make sure each upload is a worthwhile upgrade of an image like the Bombchu one; that one is desirable as a 1-to-1 replacement since you're overwriting a low-value, low-quality pre-release screenshot with a good quality version of the same image from the final game. For example, replacing this image with this one would be a bad replacement, since the former is a PotD and shows it in use, both of which are different from the screenshot you took. Does that make sense? Miles (talk) 15:18, 14 May 2015 (EDT)
Basically, replace like with like as long as there's a clear quality boost, right? A couple more questions: replacing the Gust Bellows image is a no-go, as you said, but would it be okay if I simply uploaded the image separately from that one? The one you guys have is good for showing it in action, while the one I have gives a better look at the actual item. The licensing is also still an issue for me: over on the Mario Wiki, we'd have a license for what the image literally is (game screenshot, tv screenshot, logo, magazine scan, etc.) and then a category with what game/show the image is from. You guys don't quite have that; I'll probably be fine on my own (Template:Fairuse, then whatever character(s) appear in the image, right?) but forgive me if I make any errors along the way. Reversinator (talk)
Yeah, the Gust Bellows one is a good example of what would make a good complement to what we have, as opposed to a replacement. Uploading it separately would be fine. As for licensing, we just tag screenshots as fair use; don't worry about being more specific than that. Other categories are sometimes useful but not consistently applied, so do what makes sense to you on that. Miles (talk) 16:03, 14 May 2015 (EDT)

Perhaps you should review SW:UTPG and SW:SIGN. Miles (talk) 16:21, 15 May 2015 (EDT)

Let me tell you something

You are a horrible admin.

Administrators' jobs are to keep the wiki in order, making sure everything is professional looking and easy to read, and stopping arguments by creating compromises (unless one side of the argument is completely ridiculous or otherwise disagreed with by a majority of the community).

You know what you do?

You come up with your own theories on what should happen and dare someone to question them. We have a large margin of the Wiki that believes Mewtwo's blue costume is based off of Shiny Mewtwo or Shiny Mew, and because you and MAYBE two other people disagree, you're willing to BAN people for questioning you.

You insist that everyone make an argument on the talk page, but you do what you want and if someone tries to question you, you either ignore them or beat them into submission with your threats and insults until they look like such idiots that no one will listen to them.

It's one thing to revert my edits. It's a completely other thing to tell me that my image is sloppy and unnecessary and deleting it without even asking for a different opinion. Not to mention the changes Laikue made. They make no difference on the page EXCEPT ACCORDING TO YOU, but because YOU dislike it, it's somehow bad? You were the only person to disagree with it and it was for the stupid reason of ONLY TWO rows getting changed by one row, which has no effect on anyone, as opposed to basic unreadability on mobile platforms. Wait, isn't one of the jobs of an admin making everything professional looking and easy to read? Nope, not according to you.

Now please, ban me for insulting you because I dared to question your almighty powers and drag you back down to earth. Scream at me until I cry if you want. Tell me how ridiculous my statements are and that I'm just upset that you deleted my art. Do I look like I care? ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 18:55, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

I really hate to say this, but Nutta's not wrong. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 19:08, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
I am not planning on changing my positions when it comes to facts, nor am I planning on worsening readability of the wiki on a computer to make it more mobile-friendly. As for the icons Nutta uploaded, they were poor quality hue edits of existing images that served no purpose and set a precedent for uploading images we have no need for. I'd advise you to make an effort to stop assuming the worst in others. Miles (talk) 19:10, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
I'm sorry, Nutta's absolutely right. I've been wanting to say this for a while, you're really stubborn and not very nice. When ever I put anything on the wiki you always remove it either because it's irrelevant or because it has no source, isn't one of the rules on the wiki always assume good faith? Also, lighten up a bit, you're always so gloomy and unhappy it's kind of sad, you seem like you have no fun on this wiki! I'm sorry if this offends you, I just want you to realize these things. Be a bit more thoughtful! Nintenzilla (talk) 20:19, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
If I undo an edit of yours for being of poor quality, that's not assuming bad faith. I simply do checks of some edits from recent changes, and if something looks factually dubious I'm likely to remove it. Miles (talk) 20:29, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
That's not what I mean. You don't assume good faith, meaning that you automatically assume it's of bad quality just because of no source. What if it's a bit intriguing? Nintenzilla (talk) 20:47, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
If someone makes a questionable or unusual claim without providing a source, that is bad quality. Miles (talk) 20:56, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

I support Miles's actions in most if not all of these contexts and would have done the same if I'd gotten here first. Edited images are unwanted; dubious claims require trustable sources; mobile users deserve nothing special. All I see on this page is a bunch of whining that you're not getting your way - have fun with that on your reputation. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Engineer 21:02, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

Now that I'm (slightly) calmer, I'd like to make a more reasonable argument that sounds less like whining (which I admit I did).
What Miles did was not handling the situation calmly or professionally- he didn't supply a reason as to why his way was better beyond "it's not ugly and we've done it this way for six weeks". The closest thing to a reason is the fact that mine was poorly edited (which I strongly disagree with but I'm rather biased), but the way he phrased it was very much a personal attack (at least, that's how I took it, but again, i'm rather biased). "It's the way we've always done it" is never a reason, particularly when we have multiple users who believe that is not a good way to do it and only one who disagrees. It's clearly not an overly functional way, and as an admin, he should have presented a new way instead of insisting his way is better. By personally attacking my art skill and refusing to listen to other opinions, he triggered an edit war, which instead of putting a stop to it by compromising, he participated in and actually refused a compromise- and for what reason? Because he disagreed with it. This is not how you handle edit wars in any way, shape, or form. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 21:13, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
I'm sorry too, I'm just very new here and need to learn the ropes still. Nintenzilla (talk) 21:15, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
I was not reverting on the basis of "we've always done it this way" so much as "we've done it this way for six weeks and you've been around, why are you only bringing it up now?". Beyond that, I was by no means intending to personally attack anyone, and apologize if it came across as such. Miles (talk) 21:25, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
that's... not a better reason in any way, but it was mainly because I actually have a life and sometimes don't have time to throw a yellow color replacement tool in Mario's face. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 22:09, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
After reading this whole discussion, as well as what prompted Nutta's response, I think I can safely give my opinion now.
Despite what I said earlier, I do not necessarily have a thing against Miles. I feel he does things for a reason. That said, the reason he gave for the thing regarding the whole situation that prompted Nutta's complaint was pretty...vague, in a way. You basically said "we've had it this way for a short amount of time and I don't want to have something different." That's what it sounds like to me. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 08:58, 19 May 2015 (EDT)

(Reset Indent) I don't either, I understand his ways as an admin, it's all good. Nintenzilla (talk) 09:02, 19 May 2015 (EDT)

As someone who has been here for 4 years (or nearly 5 years in fact), I honestly don't see any problems with how Miles handles his admin capabilities. He has been improving since that big OT vs. Miles argument almost a year ago. Now I know that Miles does have his problem with his passive stubbornness but I feel like Miles' talk page has now become an unnecessary hate page citing him as the main antagonist of the wiki and that he did so many "illegal" crimes for his admin rights to be revoked. Seriously, he's not that bad. Dots (talk) 60% tech skill, 30% crazy, 10% you name it. :P The Jiggly 09:48, 19 May 2015 (EDT)

Like I said, I feel he does things for a reason; I feel everything has a reason behind it, in fact. But if it's a stupid reason, then I don't see why I can't just walk up to Miles and say "what the hell, man?" Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 09:51, 19 May 2015 (EDT)
Then this is why we bring these kind of things up on talk pages. I don't mind anybody criticizing Miles but the way Ac2k and others besides OT who doesn't like Miles just seem to immaturely whine about it. Dots (talk) 60% tech skill, 30% crazy, 10% you name it. :P The Goldfinger 10:05, 19 May 2015 (EDT)

This is how I see this whole thing...

  1. It's made quite clear that Ignorance of the Rules != Excusal.
  2. Mobile Editors, which we can easily track, are of a minority. As such, we shouldn't sacrifice the needs of the majority for them.
  3. There is a threshold beyond which an image can be indefinitley considered poor. Whilst I haven't seen the image in question, it needs saying.
  4. Sturgeon's Law. Just because 90% of people think it's good, doesn't mean it is. Whilst it may or not appear 'similar', that's speculation. There isn't enough evidence to suggest Mewtwo's pallete is based on its shiny.
  5. If someone posted a clear falsehood, by your definition of good faith, we can't remove it. Good Faith means assume they mean well, not that they do well.
  6. *Sarcastic Tone* People, please, the Internet's butthurt enough as it is! *Translation* Don't take offence at everything you read! I don't take anything said on the Internet seriously, even if it's people I know IRL. Just throw out a sarcastic comment to yourself and carry on!
Rant-ish Over. Have A Nice Day!

Oh, and @Aidan - totally agree with you that you should be able to cast an argument forward, but if that argument starts with a statement like "You are a horrible X", then proceeds to completley ignore the points posed. Oh, and people jumping on the bandwagon just because it's a good time to bring down their rival - not talking about you, but I ain't gonna name fingers and point names. I am in no way assuming bad faith. It's more grumpiness over a common error that people seem to perpetuate without checking, hence a slightly sarcastic nudge to people to actually compare the subject in question. Miles (talk) 16:15, 21 May 2015 (EDT)
I never said you were assuming bad faith, i said you didn't politely explain their mistakes. Whether or not your assumption of faith led to it, you still disobeyed that part of the policy. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 16:16, 21 May 2015 (EDT)
Then I apologize for expressing some exasperation rather than 100% politeness. Sometimes having to repeatedly revert the same thing being asserted without evidence grows tiring. Miles (talk) 16:21, 21 May 2015 (EDT)

A question about uploading images

Hello, Miles. I have found an image to show what a Plasma Wisp looks like in the Master Fortress. However, it is from a different Kirby Wiki, and all these Image copyright rules and image uploading rules kinda makes me hesitant to upload the image. I'm not quite sure what to do. Help? Falconpunch (talk) 01:57, 22 May 2015 (EDT)

If the image in question is simply a screenshot directly from Smash Wii U, at either native resolution or Miiverse resolution, feel free to upload it. All screenshots can be simply tagged as fair use from the drop down menu while uploading; as for filename, anything reasonably descriptive like "File:Plasma Wisp Wii U.jpg" is adequate. Does that clear things up? Miles (talk) 02:18, 22 May 2015 (EDT)
Yeah, that should clear things up, thanks for that. It does seem like a screenshot anyways. If I break the rules somehow after uploading the image, I understand; It's my first time. Falconpunch (talk) 02:33, 22 May 2015 (EDT)
