"Up throw" is a throw performed by pressing up on the control stick after having grabbed the enemy. Many up throws are capable of chain throwing fast-fallers.

Well known up throws include:

  • Mewtwo's up throw is the strongest in Melee by far, and is the strongest in the Smash Bros. series. It is its best killing move in most cases.
  • Roy's is the 2nd strongest and can easily chain throw fast-fallers.
  • Mr.Game and Watch also has a really good throw as he juggles the opponent then tosses them up at an angle which is the only up throw to be angled.
  • Meta Knight's and Kirby's up throw brings the character upward off the screen, then slams the opponent down, which sometimes may act like a Wonder Height Recovery.
