Hi there. My smasher tag is Gold, my wiki name is Smashgold347238, and I edit a lot of pages where I feel it is needed (which may or may not actually be needed, so I apologize in advance).
I started with Super Smash Bros. Brawl and really wanted to know as much about the game as possible, so I came over here. Since then, I've tried out every single Smash Bros. game, even Brawl-. I've mostly played Captain Falcon throughout every game, but I now primarily play Smash 4 (due to my own gripes with Melee and the fact that I believe Smash 4 is a more complete game that doesn't require my hands to break), where I main Cloud and keep a bunch of secondaries for fun. You may find me lurking in the Smash on Tap Smash 4 brackets at Even Matchup Gaming's Challonge page. If you see GoldML anywhere on Twitch, that's me (but I don't stream).
I try to come out to nationals that occur in Toronto, such as Canada Cup 2015 and Get On My Level 2016. I'll probably be wearing a lot of The Legend of Zelda stuff. Say hi. :P
My Smash 4 tier list
I recently made my own tier list for Smash 4. You don't have to take it for word, it is mostly my opinion, as well as a popularity contest. (sorry Mii Fighters). Very subject to change based on what matches I see.
I catagorized them in competitive Pokémon tiers (and yes, I'm counting Borderlines, because gaps between certain characters, particularly near the middle to the top, are small but noticeable). As you can expect, the tiers are in order, but the characters may not be as such. Also a couple of notes as to why some characters are positioned like so:
- Link jumped up from my previous lists because I've recently seen some tech with him that is very obscure and allows him to get around much better than with his regular ground speed.
- Diddy Kong and Sheik are probably still the best characters in the game because of how consistent their players are. Don't think of them as being over-centralizing uber characters (like Melee Fox grumble), but rather characters that just barely edge out the competition and bridge the gap between "great" and "excellent".
- Obviously, Bayonetta is not nearly as dominant as she once was, but I do not want to list her as too low when it has only been a few days since 1.1.6 and high opinions of her are dropping like flies. I feel there is still some merit to using her yet, and the real Bayonetta players will step up to demonstrate that.
- I'll admit that Cloud is an oddball due to him being rather inconsistent as a whole character. He's basically the Archeops of Smash 4; an excellent character when used properly, but drops off significantly if he is hit even just slightly off stage (drawing the parallel between lowered stats below 50% HP with Defeatist).
